The list of names in banking and finance has a decent mix of MNCs and local banks. Foreign MNCs include American Express, Citibank, GE Capital, HSBC, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Nomura, RBS etc. Based on our conversations with alumni of India's premier B schools and our knowledge of general trends in placements in MDI and other B schools, we believe most of the roles are middle-office operations roles, with perhaps a couple of roles in transaction banking/corporate banking and Risk Management. Nevertheless, this is a pretty decent list when you have a look at FMS, IIM Indore, SP Jain, IIM Kozhikode and IIFT.
Indian recruiters included HDFC, HSBC, ICICI, Magma Fincorp, Religare, and SBI Capital markets. Again, we expect a number of roles in operations/transaction banking. There are generally not too many front-end investment banking roles on offer at MDI.
For students of the PGP-HRM course, the list of recruiters has two names from financial services - ICICI Bank and Axis Bank. (data for the PGP-HRM course is broken out separately, although not in as much detail as the PGPM course).
Overall, we note that MDI Gurgaon has a good breadth of companies offering finance roles, perhaps benefiting from its location at Gurgaon.
Consulting
The list of recruiters in consulting include Deloitte US India and Avalon Consulting , MEC intelligence, KPMG, PwC, Technopak and BristleCone (operations consulting). List of recruiters in IT consulting includes HCL, IBM, Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Mindtree and Cognizant Business Consulting and MAQ Software.
Analytics profiles were offered by Boston Analytics, Dell, Genpact and Google.
The recruiters from PGP HRM (HR consulting roles) include Cognizant, Deloitte, and Ernst and Young.
Overall, we see consulting profiles at MDI as decent without necessarily being exceptional.
General Management
The list of recruiters in General Management includes Reliance Industries, RPG, Trident Group, Lava International and NIIT Technologies. A number of conglomerates have recruited for HR roles, and they are listed in the subsequent sections of the report.
FMCG
Around 38% of the batch took up roles in Sales and Marketing. This (sales and marketing) is one area where MDI shines. The list of FMCG recruiters includes Asian Paints, Castrol, Coca-Cola, Dabur, Emami, Godrej, Henkel, Pepsico, Pernod Ricard, Pidilite, Procter & Gamble, Raymond, Reckitt Benckiser, and Red Bull. We would say this is a pretty impressive list - only absentees being HUL and ITC. Asian Paints and Reckkitt Benckiser also hired for the HR function. A number of manufacturing companies hired for sales and marketing profiles and they are listed in the subsequent sections of the report.
Pharma companies
Pharma companies recruiting from MDI included Cipla, Dr. Reddy's Labs, Ranbaxy and Eli Lilly.
Analysis of other sales and marketing roles
Companies (apart from FMCG) offering sales and marketing roles include telecom companies like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, automotive companies like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, manufacturing companies like Tata Steel, JSPL, Schnieder Electric. The placement report also states that roles were offered at e-commerce companies like Flipkart, eBay and Jabong.
Analysis of other HR roles
Companies offering HR roles (apart from the ones listed earlier) include Aditya Birla Group, Hero Moto Corp, Idea, Mahindra Comviva, People Strong, Philips, Powergrid, Reliance Industries Limited, Right Management, RITES, RPG, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, and Vodafone.
Summary
We note that Sales and Marketing is where MDI puts its best foot forward. The options in sales and marketing range from FMCG companies, to telecom companies and automotive companies (most of these companies have a major presence in Gurgaon and the proximity obviously helps). The data reported by MDI on its website states that 47 students accepted PPOs (this, out of a batch of 321 is a rather lowish percentage - 14.6%, as compared to figures from FMS - 17%, XLRI - 32% and SP Jain - 38%. A total of 182 companies participated in the placements, and 310 jobs were accepted by students (11 students opted for entrepreneurship).
We again reiterate that the above report is not verified. Candidates are advised to exercise caution and do their own research while taking any decisions based on the information given in this report.

MDI has mentioned McKinsey IT, BCG & Accenture Strategy in it's report. Why weren't they included?

Mc Kinsey has made offers at MDI Gurgaon. If this is your verification, I suppose it needs more polishing.

Both Mc Kinsey and BCG have made offers at MDI. I request InsideIIM to be more responsibly accurate in journalism. It hurts the reputation of an entire college.
