Group. It all started on 21st September’ 1992, five years before I was born. My father started
his career by being a part of the most energy-efficient Urea plant in the country at
Jagdishpur in Uttar Pradesh, Indo Gulf Fertilizers, producing 12 lakh MT per year, greater
than 100% Capacity Utilization. It was phenomenal as it was a premier Agri Solution
provider reaching 6 Million farmers and helping them reap a rich harvest and improve their
incomes.
My schooling started with Aditya Birla Public School, Jagdispur and hence I have
experienced the power this group has in changing people’s lives since 1857. It all started
with cotton trading operations at Pilani, Rajasthan and has spread its wings throughout the
globe. Chronologically, shaping of a conglomerate in the 1930s, making of India’s first MNC
during 1970-1995, entering into financial, telecom, copper services from 1995-2000,
building scale through acquisitions in India and globally (2000-2005), growing and
consolidating from 2005-2010 and Cementing Leadership Positions in Relevant Sectors in
India and Globally were all the events of the ABG life story.
When something has an impact on billions of people worldwide, upon where they live, how
they live, what they wear and practically everything, it is not just an organization or a group
that is responsible for it, it is a lifestyle in itself, an unexplained phenomena. What could
be more fascinating than being hit with a realization of the unsaid faith people have in ABG.
Probably, the building we’re safely residing in was built with Ultratech Cement, ABG a
Global Leader in cement and the largest producer of grey cement, white cement and ready-mix concrete in India. The 2g/3g/4g platforms that we’re utilizing might be an outcome of
the successful merger of ABG and Vodafone group with a subscriber base of over 408
million customers. This growth is exponential and never-ending. Our lives have never been
better. Aditya Birla group does it all.
‘How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far’
We don’t realize that we’re facing a challenge when we are in it. It is only when we
emerge as a winner or a failure, do we understand how this experience has shaped us for
good or bad. Looking back at my life I realize that it was only my ambition to come out in
flying colors that helped me stay strong in tough times. At critical times, the small values
that were imbibed into me at the early stages of life played a significant role. When life
tested me, it was imperative that I kept my base morals strong and not let the wrong
deceive me.
One instance from 2012-13 when I was to appear for class 10th examinations has always
reminded me of my inner strength. At the beginning of the session, I was diagnosed with
Herniated Disc and Sciatica. This meant I could no more attend regular classes at school for
the rest of the year as I was advised to be on complete bed rest. It broke my heart to see
myself being unproductive almost every day and going to bed at night knowing that I can’t
really wake UP in the morning. I made up my mind to not waste the year and prepare for
the board examinations at home. It was extremely difficult as for the first time in life I had
to study everything on my own without the guidance of teachers at school. I did what I
could, gave my heart to it and subsequently scored a 10 CGPA. I was also awarded the
Chairman’s Trophy for exemplary performance in academics. This had been possible
because of the constant mental and emotional support of my family and friends and the
faith that I had in myself. This was the first time I had experienced the taste of true success
which only comes after a lot of hard work.
Ever since then, I have adopted this theory in my life of giving my best shot to whatever
comes ahead of me. This helps me keep myself happy, content and motivated.
