This chat ended that evening itself and for a few months, no one spoke about it. And then one fine day dad came home early with some files with him. And to everyone’s surprise, it had a plan for our new home. That day I had seen grandpa’s eyes gleaming in joy.
Fast-forward 2 months later, with all the necessary permissions, final plans and layouts it was the time to select construction material and Ultra tech was an undisputed choice by the civil engineer, architect dad, and grandpa. With all this, the work started and was completed in 1.5 years. Grandpa was the happiest person on the day we shifted to this new home.
3 years after this, dad realized that this was the best decision he has made in his life because grandpa was no more amongst us.
So this is how ABG group is not only big but also very significant in my life. Home always has that special place in your heart and also the one who makes it stay strong and last long- The Ultratech cement.
A tough fight with dengue
The most challenging and jittery phase of my life was when I was diagnosed with dengue and some kind of infection of the white blood cells (now I don’t really remember the name) in standard 10th just 20 days before my prelim exams. I grew up in a small city in southern Maharashtra which had a very few hospitals back then in 2010. I was admitted at our family doctor’s clinic. The doctors there were really trying hard but my condition was worsening. The tension of the board exams was one of the culprits there. It came to such a bad state that where normally you need somewhere around 8000 to 11,000 white blood cells per microliter of blood, my count had gone down to 2000 which was fatal. My dad and the doctor somehow managed to get an injection from a Mumbai based hospital that very night and it saved me.
After that the hard part was recovery. My ultimate aim was to clear the board exam the same year and not lose myself to this illness. My mom and dad were the constant sources of motivation, reading the history chapters for me, dad solving maths sums for me so that I feel he is with me. The school teachers arranged science experiments for me at my home. Grandpa and grandma constantly being by my side telling me all the motivational stories they knew of. All these efforts of people around me gave me hope. Amongst all this, dad brought me a book “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne which talks about how powerful your thoughts are and how your thought process shapes the way things happen in your life. I started reading it and following literally every word of it. This changed my entire mind set regarding the way I was approaching that phase. I became more hopeful and optimistic and resumed my studies. My board exams went well and I secured a whopping 96 %.
I believe this was because of the changed mindset, positivity, strong willpower, and determination to achieve my goal. This is how I overcame one of the most difficult challenges I encountered
