Carrying oneself in various situations be it work place, a family get-together, addressing college chapter meets, or simply hanging out with friends, engaging with others in public settings requires certain self confidence and faith in oneself. As an extroverted individual exposed to various kinds of public settings, I have often found myself caught in the struggle which several women as well as some men deal with in their day to day lives: ‘What do I wear today?’
It is difficult to assess the amount of efforts that this simple question demands. With brands like Pantaloons, Forever 21, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Louis Philippe and Peter England to name a few, the group not only makes my life easier but also empowers me and reliably arms me to dress up according to occasions.
Saving best for the last, the Aditya Birla Group’s endeavor to make a difference to the lives of the underprivileged touches my heart. The Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development sets example by working on all-round development of the communities around the group’s plants located mostly in distant rural areas and tribal belts. The impact that the Group’s CSR activities makes encourages me to stand up for the society, because I believe that it is the duty of every privileged individual to take care of the less privileged ones.
How I have overcome challenges to achieve my ambitions?
Each one of us privileged or not, has their own challenges to deal with in different phases of their lives. My life being no different, gave me several hurdles to overcome.
I was a flagged introvert in my school days, and I found it difficult to express myself. My undergrad college was the first big opportunity for me to mould my personality into an outgoing person that I now have become.
VIT Vellore which houses more than twenty thousand students from different backgrounds in-campus, enabled rapid growth by sharing of life experiences, displaying talents and skill sets with the college-mates. Driven by my passion for Entrepreneurship, I joined the Entrepreneurship Cell of VIT and became an active member of it. From volunteering for the team’s events, participating in the brainstorming sessions to driving the club activities in campus and outside, I went on to become the President of the Cell. This experience exposed me and brought out the leadership spark I had always carried in myself to a full-fledged flame.
There are several more avenues life has offered me till date to capitalize on, to grow to my full potential and achieve my goals. The recent-most being the honour of pursuing MBA at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata.
An introspection of all the big and small challenges I have faced in life makes it clear that though not all, but lot of these hurdles are self-made, and draw power from self doubt. The only way of breaking free from these chains is by believing in oneself and pushing our limits. Determination and persistence differentiates winners from others, and these are the values I continue to inculcate in myself to continue to grow and progress.
