ABG and Me
When it comes to an omnipresent corporation like Aditya Birla Group its presence is felt, literally everywhere. Be it my tiffin box's contents being wrapped in Freshwrapp or my family home being protected by Ultratech Cement or making me and family look fashionable by brands like Allen Solly, Louis Philippe or Forever 21 the corporation has its presence, as I said before, literally everywhere.
My first interaction with this corporation happened when I was probably an 8 or 10 year old kid and my father wanted to go shopping, a very rare instance I’d say, as he seldom buys clothes for himself. He took us to Planet Fashion and bought an array of shirts and trousers from the brand Peter England. I was so happy that Dad finally decided to buy clothes for himself other than our family. So this was probably my first interaction with ABG.
As a fashion forward person I personally love the brands Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen and of course, Peter England. Shopping at Pantaloons is like a very regular thing. Also, I recently realized that the brands like Ralph Lauren, Simon Carter and Ted Baker amongst others also fall under the ABG umbrella.
Coming to a more spiritual aspect, I’d like to mention a very important contribution by ABG to our society – The Birla Temples. Every few months our family would go to Alibaug, Maharashtra (approx. 100 kms from Mumbai) to our second home. Even if we are there for a mere 2 days or maybe even lesser, we make it a point to visit the Birla Mandir nearby. It’s become more of a ritual now.
And those are amongst the few important reasons why Aditya Birla Group is important in my life and also my loved ones.
My Challenges in Life
In my degree college I faced a very serious problem. I received my result and due to some unforeseen circumstances I had 5 ATKTs (failed in these subjects). I didn't see that coming & was shocked, to put it mildly. I didn't think that I could bounce back from this one. But I didn't let failure get the best of me. I decided to study for those subjects and those from the ongoing semester. So I had to give 11 subjects in total in the upcoming semester.
Now this was a close to impossible task in an engineer's life. People struggle to clear 6 subjects in one semester and clearing 11 subjects in one semester seemed like a Hail Mary. People advised me to be practical and realize the fact that passing 11 subjects is next to impossible. They suggested that I better focus on studying and clearing 8-9 subjects and not attempt 2-3 subjects. It seemed practical but I didn't want to just bail on 2-3 subjects. So I decided to take my chances to study and attempt all 11 subjects. I studied harder than I ever did & gave the exams. 2 months later, the result was declared & I had passed all the subjects. All 11 of them, against all odds.
I learned that I should “Believe In Myself” even when nobody does. And if I try hard enough no task is impossible. And most importantly: “Be deaf to negative thoughts if you want to reach your goal.”
