Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
Aditya Birla Group is a global Indian Conglomerate in the real sense, with their products touching the lives of millions of Indians on a daily basis. With products ranging from daily items like freshwrapp, to the collective-India’s largest luxury retailer, the ABG group has attained leadership position in several business.
My story with ABG group started off at a very young age, with me none the wiser – Hindalco’s frehwrapp was something I remember very fondly. I have been a foodie all my life, and absolutely loved my mom’s cooking. Everyday, she used to cook delectable meals for me and it was the freshwrapp that kept those meals warm and fresh for me to eat at school recess. And even though I didn’t realize it at that time, but it makes me happy now to have been a part of Aditya Birla Group’s journey , however small.
Growing up, as I started my undergrad studies and eventually started working, Van Heusen was the preferred brand for me all along. Women’s formal clothing lacks good options in India, but Van Heusen was a saviour for me. With the urban premium image of the brand at affordable prices, I still continue to prefer van heusen over any other brand. And I am proud to wear their clothes, because I know now that I don’t have to prefer any foreign brands- because ABG has brought the world to India, so Indians don’t have to go to the world.
Triumphing over Guillain–Barré Syndrome
The most challenging and jittery phase of my life came when I was diagnosed with a rare progressive disorder, Guillain–Barré syndrome at the age of 8 years.
The disease involved ascending paralysis starting from legs moving upwards and within 3 weeks has the potential to cause respiratory paralysis. A couple of weeks had passed, I couldn’t lift my legs to get on my bed and sleep, couldn’t go to the restroom alone, couldn’t bend, in short I was going numb, I was paralyzing each passing second.Ranchi is a small town where I grew up.Day-in day-out, me and my parents were circling various city hospitals & doctors in hope of at least being able to diagnose what was happening to me.
No school, No studies!
Third week started, it had moved up till my waist, in my father’s arms were my new ride, he’d pick me up and visit pathology labs and doctors all day. Fortunately, and because of my parents' persistent efforts, we faced the reality of GBS and the reason for my encroaching paralysis.
Health, money, happiness – bereft of all!
I missed 1 year at school and another year after that I had to study from home. My parents though stood by me and took care of my weak paralyzed body. Initially I got frustrated with things happening to me. But then I came to terms with what life had in store for me. It was in those years when I decided that I will study so hard that I will make sure that I make my parents proud. I was also determined to take life's control back into my hands. I studied very hard and took my health seriously. Soon enough, I could walk back again post which I would just study day and night.
In 2011, I at last reached a milestone. Performed great in the board exams, topped the exams in my city and then never looked back.In 2018, I participated and completed a Marathonorganized by IDBI Federal Life Insurance. Aimed at creating awareness regarding
Swacch Bharat.
Still when I look back, I get goosebumps thinking how that little girl survived and rose from ashes to prove her mettle.
