Part A:
Being from a business family, Aditya Birla Group has been a topic of conversation at home since my childhood. My father looked up to the conglomerate and used it as an exemplification to make us think big.
My earliest memories of using ABG's products is from school when my mother used to pack my food using Freshwrapp. It makes me feel so nostalgic to recall how I used to look up to the tiffin break! In my undergraduate years, Louis Philippe helped shape a memory that last forever. During my first job interview I was wearing a Louis Philippe suit and thus started my corporate journey.
Pantaloons has been a go-to destination whenever I want to shop for clothes. In fact before starting my MBA when I had to shop for formals choosing Pantaloons was an obvious choice. Ultra Tech Cement is another brand which I have looked up to. It was here that my brother started his career in. We've together reflected on how the ethos of an organization can make a difference to a business and people's lives and we're both admirers of ABG.
Part B:
I joined a consulting firm after my undergraduate degree. Prior to joining the firm, I had always achieved my goals in my school and college from Day 1. However, once I joined my workplace I realized I had way too much ground to cover. I underwent a steep learning curve to be at par with some of the smartest people I have ever come across. In the first week, I remember a particular day when we had a tight schedule to complete an assignment. My team members decided to do the work on their own without involving me that day. I felt really embarrassed. I wanted to be a meaningful contributor to the team.
The next day, I decided to start taking initiative towards the different tasks in the project. I would help other members in small project tasks and realized that in the process of solving them I learnt various other things outside the specific task. In the next two years, I continued this approach and was able to be a sought after team member for difficult projects. In the last project, I was entrusted with responsibilities that I could only dream of in the beginning. I had the opportunity to mentor new members and success to me was being able to inspire them with my passion for solving business problems.
