Part A:
Aditya Birla Group, one of the biggest and successful multinational conglomerate India has ever seen provides a wide variety of goods and services to its customers and has become an inevitable part of their lives in this modern era. Now under the leadership of Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla and with a work force of over 120000 employees, this giant organization is a leader in several sectors such as fashion and life style, telecommunication, life insurance, infrastructure, etc across the globe and is worth a US $44billion.
Me being an Indian by birth have consumed many of the products that Aditya Birla Group has to offer knowingly or unknowingly. Their Fashion and Retail Ltd has played a major role in my life. I have always been an avid user of their branded apparels like Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England, etc. The wide range of variety of clothing they offer from their weekend casuals to the corporate formals satisfies all the fashion needs of a customer looking for good grade garments. The superior quality of their fabrics and the uncomparable comfort they provide made me stick to their brands ever since I started using them.
The fact that this group being proactive in their CSR activities such as building a better, sustainable way of life for the weaker section of our society, rural development through their Aditya Birla Center for Community and Rural development has inspired me. I’am really proud that such a top class global leader is from our country!
Part B:
“Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory”- George S Patton. Challenges are a part our lives and to confront or flee from them is left to us. I have faced a couple of challenges in my life which I found it very difficult to tackle.
Me being a doctor, the most difficult challenge that I have faced in my professional life is explaining the death of a patient to the relatives, and I had no option of fleeing away from this and had to face it. Seeing a loved one die is very unpleasant to anyone and everyone and when you are trying to explain the death of their dear ones to the relatives, it requires a lot of well polished soft skills and the only way I could over come this challenge was by the help of my professors and seniors from whom I learnt ways to handle such delicate situations, I’am really thankful to them.
The next big challenge that troubled me to an good extent was the whole process of deciding to take up MBA as the next step in my career after MBBS and coming to IIM Raipur several miles away from home. For a person who had never lived away from home I think I’am doing fairly well and all of this is only possible because of the love from my family, friends and because of my current batch mates and the 2
nd year students who have been very supportive since the day one.
