Do you remember the priceless moment when you saw your father with beaming contented smile? I do. It was in 2011. The date was 22
nd February and my father was sitting on bags of ultra tech cement fresh from the hardware stores and was looking in awe at the semi constructed structure of his long cherished dream. My grandfather worked in a government bank all his life and though he was successful in providing every basic means to his family, he could not provide one luxury—a home. My parents, their parents and then me stayed in a rented home for most years of our lives and it was my father’s long cherished dream to build a house which he can call his own. After taking home loans from Aditya Birla Capital at low interest rates, he finally went ahead with his dream of building a house.
For the next 2 years, my father sat on the same bags of Ultra tech and saw how the bags of cement converted into a 3 storied abode of happiness. On the auspicious day of entering the new house, I and my sister wore new trendy clothes from the Pantaloons store nearby. My mother used her Idea connection to effortlessly connect with all her relatives around the city and the country and invited them to her long cherished house—the one where she didn’t have to ask for permission to go to the roof.
Building homes is synonymous with Aditya Birla Group and Ultra Tech cement is not just a product but a tool to achieve dreams of building a home for families. ABG with the products like Ultra Tech Cement, Vodafone Idea group, Aditya Birla Capital, Hindalco Industries, Pantaloons Retail and Fashion and revenue of 44.3 Billion dollar is building , connecting and employing India for 162 years and in their enormous umbrella are my families and families of many more content Indians.

24 hours race from development to deployment – Drikjit Aich,#IIM Trichy
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” – Martin Luther King Jr. Challenges are like steps of a shrouded staircase, only when you climb them, you realise you are going up.
My last employer was Tata Consultancy Services and I was employed there in the capacity of a developer for the first one year. My ambition was there to provide defect less deliverables without missing any deadline. The development team including me had completed the deliverables and were giving a client demo when the client gave us some additional requirements. The issue was with time -- the whole task from development to testing to deployment had to be completed in one single day.
The challenge was huge. We had to set up a client meeting to finalize the requirements, develop it and then test it. After successful testing, a client demo was needed and post client demo, all the approvals were needed to be taken for production deployment. Time was the depleting resource and we knew we had to use every minute of the 24 hours we had. We didn’t go home, we ordered food in office, we developed and tested at the same time, gave demo to the client and then relentlessly sought for approvals needed to deploy in live environment. Once approved, we deployed it and it went live without any issues. The client gave us an appreciation mail and for addressing a new requirement so quickly, we got recognized in the IT peers.
The next day after being awake for 36 hours straight, when I was returning in cab, I realised that satisfaction from overcoming challenges undermines any pain or taxation that the body feels. This experience taught me that belief and team work can help you overcome any hurdle and when you keep pushing, when you keep climbing, you always reach the top.
