Why is Aditya Birla Group big in my life?
Aditya Birla Group is a multi-billion corporation headquartered in Mumbai, India. Founded in 1857, the group after 162 years, operates in 34 countries and employs around 120000 employees belonging to 42 nationalities. The group operates across different sectors and domains such as Telecom, Cement, Fashion, Finance, Insurance, Infrastructure, Textile, etc.
Aditya Birla Group has impacted the lives of many and has an impact on every Indian in some way or the other. Same goes for me but I never really realized this until I sat down to gather my thoughts for writing this piece.
I remember my mom wrapping up lunch for us to take to our school and then later to college but I never really focused on the fact that that aluminium foil
Freshwrapp is actually a part of ABG and also that this was my first ever encounter with this group’s product.
Coming from a middle-class family we are not really accustomed to always buying branded apparel but on some occasions, we did try to fulfill that little fashion dream of ours. A few years ago my brother had to buy a suit for his school farewell and he was stuck on the idea of buying it from
Van Heusen as it is one of the most famous brands for men’s clothing and always offers a trendy collection
Four years ago when I joined my Undergrad College, I was so keen on buying the latest fashion trends as I was entering a new phase of my life and I wanted everything to be perfect and that’s how
Forever 21 and
Pantaloons came into the picture. Pantaloons is my personal favourite as it offers a huge variety and at such reasonable prices that I can’t help but buy lots and lots of stuff.
Apart from all these, there is the Telecom sector,
Idea and
Vodafone that keeps us connected with our loved ones by providing uninterrupted services. In my family, we have 6 Idea/Vodafone connections and I can't even remember how many years it has been since we started using them.
As I have already mentioned how I was not aware of the number of ways I am connected with ABG, but it really surprises me to know the extent of it. Now I can say without any doubt that ABG is a very important part of my life and I am grateful that I got this opportunity to share my story and do hope that I will be given the chance to join this group someday.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
The greatest challenge that I overcame in my life so far was to strive hard to achieve something that I have already failed in once. I am talking about clearing the CAT examination and getting into a prestigious B-school.
All this started when I began my preparation for CAT in 2017. I had to juggle between my preparation and my college examinations but all seemed fine until the time when only 3 months were left before I had to face the exam and I realized that I am not prepared as much and that I have been wasting my time for the past 6 months. I was really nervous but still went on to write the exam. I remember the day when the results came, I got a 67 percentile which was good for nothing and the rest I could see on the faces of my family.
That day I decided that enough was enough and I once again began my preparation for CAT 2018. I had nine months for preparing but also my last year examinations in between. Once those were over and I was officially sitting idle in my home, my anxiety started getting the better of me. I was so nervous, so scared by even the thought of failing again because I have never failed in any examination before, be it a simple class test or any other kind of test. This was a new feeling and I was completely terrified. There were expectations from my family, relatives, and friends. I did not want to let anyone down but my confidence sunk and I was at the lowest point of my life.
But then I realized that if I keep going on like this then one thing was sure that I would fail again and therefore the best I could do is try my level best. I gathered up courage and decided just to focus on my studies and began spending 12-14 hours on studying, solving and practicing. By august end, I finished the syllabus and started practicing online tests to build my speed along with the accuracy.
I still was very nervous and was not sure about my chances but managed to gather enough confidence on D-Day and went ahead to give the test by being as calm as I could at that particular point of time. The results came and I got a 96.4 percentile which opened many gates of opportunities for me.
To this day, I am so grateful and happy that I somehow managed to control my emotions and negative thoughts which ultimately taught me a very important lesson that I can never forget, ‘Every chance is the SECOND LAST’
