I am from a lower middle class family and my father is a salaried employee. We have always had the budget prepared for all the expenses throughout the month. As a child, I fantasized about shopping and well, even now. I accompanied my father every month to buy groceries and provisions. But all that we could afford and had access to, was a general store where we provided the list of items and shopkeeper would get us them from inside. I was this small girl who excitedly jumped to see the items in the shop behind the billing counter beyond which the customers weren’t allowed usually. Influenced by Hollywood movies, the supermarkets became my bucket list place. But my father never took me to one as he knew I would grab expensive things that he might not be able to afford.
And finally, when I was in my middle school, a new “More” supermarket was opened in our vicinity. I managed my father to take me there after continuous persuasion. I can’t explain the excitement and happiness of that day. I could actually shop myself! I could pick what I needed and for every item, we had variety of options arranged in the same section. And more than me, my father was surprised seeing the prices. It was either the MRP or less than that and there was discounts available for most of the products. And of course, the quality was better than our general stores. It might sound silly, but for me it was a very new experience. Bringing together everything needed for day-to-day life in a single space and giving them in the best quality and at the least price is all any customer would need. From then, it was only the More market, our family purchased from.
And in my later age, when I was in college and started working, I preferred fashion retail store like Pantaloons. It was the best blend of western and ethnic wears. Other brands like Liva, Forever 21 and Van Heusen gave us the experience of western wear to the fullest. All my formal wears is of Van Heusen India. There are many other ways, the products and services of ABG has benefitted and improved our lifestyles that we can keep listing...
