Aditya Birla group needs no introduction; the stature that it has across the globe is unparalleled. They have a presence not only in the most developed countries but also in some of the most underdeveloped nations in Africa. Aditya Birla group is the silent guardian that many of us have. It wouldn’t be untrue to say that almost every Indian in their life had some or the other connection to Aditya Birla group because of their exceptionally diverse product portfolio.
My first connection with the Aditya Birla group was established back in 2004 when I was just eight years old. This was the time when cellphones had just begun in India, and my dad had bought one too. When it came to choosing the network, he decided Idea on a whim, but probably it was the best decisions he had ever made. Idea was a joy bringer for us, my dad was a sales executive and as a result, would travel a lot for his work and I would be very sad as I couldn’t speak to him. But, Idea changed this completely, either my called or my mother used to call my dad every day. Though very simple in nature, Idea had brought connectivity in our simple lives. Incidentally, my dad still uses Idea (Vodafone Idea) since then and even I use Idea myself. So, in a way, they not only connect people but stay connected to them forever.
Additionally, Aditya Birla group has bought people subtle yet very profound memories, in the form of a mother’s hot food in a child’s lunch box wrapped in freshwrapp, in the form of a father’s pride when he sees his son grow into a young man wearing formals from Peter England, like a family’s faith in their home through UltraTech. So, they are part of many aspects of people’s lives and have been there for more than 160 years and will be there for quite long.
While I was young, one of the major challenges that I faced was stage fear. I could not speak to a gathering at all; it scared me too much. But, in my 8th standard, we had an elocution competition in our school wherein our topic was to talk about our most favorite thing, I was very interested in our cars. As I was scared to do any such thing, but still I had written the essay for the competition just so
that I could feel that I had the content. Though speaking at that competition was not seemingly possible, one thing I knew was that no one knew about the car better than me. As I was feeling left out, I told my father at home that I wanted him to hear my essay. As I read the piece, he gave me a reply, saying that he had learned lots of new things today from my speech. This triggered something in my mind that if my dad had learned something new, then there was something worth in my essay.
So, I decided that I will somehow try to take part in the competition. I planned that I would go on the stage, close my eyes, and just rant out the essay. On the day of the competition, I went up to the stage and closed my eyes, and I started ranting, and I noticed that everyone was listening without noise so I tried to open my eyes and also lessen the speed of my speech, slowly I was able to end the speech. Finally, I won the competition, and the key learning that I was able to take away from the competition was that the key to public speaking was content and calmness.
