I’ve had very diverse experiences in my career. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, memories of participation in many Sports events, an enjoyable work experience of about a year in the Accounts Department of a Manufacturing Firm and many other vivid memories all too long to list here.
But just when I thought, I’d seen enough, it turned out that God had different plans. Surprise! Surprise! MBA it was to be next! And not just any other regular B-School.
Symbiosis Institute of Business Management it turned out to be.
And as luck would have it, our very first lecture turned out to be the beast I was dreading, MICROECONOMICS. But luckily we were blessed with a jovial, vivacious and extremely chirpy professor. Within five minutes, Mrs. Manasi Phadke had managed to slay whatever demons had hitherto been lurking in my mind and turned Microeconomics into a different ball game for me altogether. I’d been used to professors churning out multitudes of numbers, diagrams and models, just like multiple lines of unintelligible programming codes, and I would often be found lost. But luckily this time Microeconomics actually made sense! We started off with the problems of local rural agrarian economy, and the feeling that I had was, Economics isn’t the big-horned bullish monster that many claim to be so! The class was lively, often crackling with electric humor, not least due to the efforts of Mrs. Phadke herself. About the misconceptions, here is what I have to say:
I may have been in the beginner category, but after my first ever Microeconomics lecture, I can conclusively say that I have joined the ranks of “Simply the Best”, thanks to the brilliance and enterprise of Mrs. Phadke!
