How To Develop Businesses And Manage Projects - Internship At AICL

As a part of our PGDM curriculum and in order to gain practical knowledge in the field of management, we were required to go through a Summer Internship Program, for which I interned at AICL Communications Ltd. working under the Business Development and Project Management teams in the project, “Assisting and shadowing on ongoing projects in Business Development and Project Management departments”. This internship helped me enhance my knowledge regarding the work of procurement of new clients and the intricacies of handling the existing ones.

An annual report is an important element of a financial communication strategy to attract and retain investors. Regular communication updating investors on financial performance and company developments helps engage investors in the business and build more beneficial relationships. Investors look for evidence of sound management when they review the financial data in the report. They can see whether sales are levelling off or the company has taken on too much debt. To protect their investment, they also want to know that a company is operating in a market that offers growth opportunities.

The job that I was offered at AICL Communications Ltd. was the position of Intern in the Business Development department. It was a 2-month long internship program. We worked for 6 full days a week as it was the peak season for our industry. On-the-job training was provided. I had two other intern co-workers with me. We used to have a roster-based work plan. The remuneration was according to the organization’s policy, some other facilities include transportation allowances and internet allowances.

Working in a India’s largest stakeholder communications agency like AICL was very exciting for me. For a young blood like me, working with the creative minds and professionals definitely was a great experience for me. The office and people there were great like home. We used to have fun, work lately with high encouragement because we felt like; we are working not only for the client but also for the nation and its people. Every communication counts. 360-degree communication is done by AICL, though 2 months attachments is not enough for a person to learn all those, the relationships made there are a lifetime asset who are still with me helping learn so many things. It was a great journey working with so many local and international brands, which concludes that, it has been a great learning opportunity for me. This has been a great learning experience for my career. Stakeholder communication is essential to make today’s brands successful and reach not only locally but also internationally. Again, this report is done with a lot of limitations and obstacles.

Talking about my mentor, Mr. Nevin Varghese is one of the most learned men I've ever met. He not only had the required book knowledge but also the capability to tweak it as the situation demanded. Working closely with him, I gained a lot of exposure as he made sure that I accompanied him in all of his meetings with the high profile clients. I have surely gained a lot from him.
