PART A

Why Aditya Birla Group is a big part of my life?

Aditya Birla Group is one of the few Indian conglomerates which have made a significant impact on a worldwide stage. It has operations spread across 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide generating a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in year 2018. However, ABG is not only about making money but it also adheres itself towards sustainable development of the weaker sections of society and upheaving the country’s human development index. It has also set high standards for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by diligently contributing to the social and economic aspects of the fragile sections of the society. So, in many ways it has not only marked a huge impression globally but also helped in assisting many lives and my life is one among them.

To begin with, I am very keenly associated with Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company Ltd. (ABSLAMC) as I along with my parents have many life insurance policies with ABG. It is a very tactical way of saving for your family which also acts as a security in various ways.

ABG’s telecom venture Idea cellular which on 31 August 2018 Idea completed its merger with Vodafone India and thereby became largest telecom company in terms of subscribers and revenue, surpassing Airtel. It ensures that we have hassle free to and fro communication with our family, friends etc. In this modern world of technologies, the 4G internet ensures that we get uninterrupted internet connection which I believe is now one of the most essential requirements in our everyday life.

Also, being an MBA student, I am pretty well versed with the significance of formal wear and business formals. ABG’s companies like Allen Solly, Peter England, Van Heusen and Louis Phillipe provide us an exclusive range of products in optimal price ranges. I vow all the formal clothing purchased by me as a courtesy of the Aditya Birla Group.

UltraTech Cement, India’s largest cement company speaks for its volume. It has been a regularly and widely used cement for various construction works. UltraTech Cement has been the solid backbone for the construction of our home.

Finally, the most important being ABG’s measures in serving towards our society and country not only economically but culturally as well. Its CSR initiatives in Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure and its actions in making model villages i.e. transforming the underprivileged villages with sustainable developments is indeed a stepping stone towards a better society and country.

This is how Aditya Birla Group is big in my life.

PART B

How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life?

My biggest challenge as a student is being the student.

I consider my days of engineering college to be the most significant challenge that I’ve faced, I had never lived away from home before and now I was in a new city living alone. Maintaining academic life balance was not easy. 

A huge setback was in the third year of college when I encountered several health issues and had to miss my mid-terms. It was an extremely demanding semester, where I had to conciliate my studies, assignments, work on our project and to make sure my attendance was satisfactory. I knew I had to prioritize the things I was involved in so met with my professors for advice on where to focus my attention, and set up a structured schedule to make sure I was putting in the required time studying. The guidance and support of my colleagues was a big help. Acquiring successful time management skills and smart working made it possible for me to succeed without compromising. The most important thing I learned was to be persistent and to never underestimate the value of ‘patience’.

Conclusively, the grades for that semester were the lowest I ever got but still my most ‘celebrated’.
