If I asked you to describe the experience at a management school in one word, you might use the word chaos. I would rather use the word serenity. There is value in this quest, there is peace in this zest.
The first day I stepped inside the campus gates what intrigued the most was the calm and peace inside the campus. I shared this feeling with one of the seniors and she laughed and said just wait for the summer students to come back. This is when I knew it is going to be a turbulent ride.
As few days passed by I saw a few distinctive developments taking place and some patterns emerging. I saw a sense of camaraderie building amongst peers where there was an unsaid understanding between students. The mornings would start with a bustle of energy and everyone waking each other up for the classes. The remainder of the day is filled with surprises and instant notices. Gradually by night, there comes a shift from enthusiastic activities to an inward contemplation and peace. I would see someone sitting on a corner bench at night talking to their loved ones on phone and other students would very quietly walk past making sure they don’t disturb the student. There is a story behind every person here and there is a story being built for the future.
What is unique to this campus is its emphasis on team work and collaboration while maintaining individuality. There is a collective energy that unites us all but at the same time there is a sense of purpose that sets each one apart. The team effort pushes all of us to come together towards a common outcome while the individuality component ensures we bring something unique to the table. It is like a spiritual experience where you share the reality with others while maintaining a reality of our own in our own minds.
This is a life about changing and adapting continuously while keeping the core same. It is a life about building ourselves on the foundation that has been set before. It is about eliminating the extras and accumulating value. I am fascinated by this process of combining two opposites and shifting gears in quick succession. It is a life about building new from the old. I am fascinated by this life at MDI.
I wish to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. The reason for this is two-folds. One being that it will allow me to experience how a company strategizes when it has multitude of widely recognized brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England et al. The second reason for choosing this company under Aditya Birla Group is that it is an exciting sector to work in and is the one that connects with me. I resonate with the philosophy of the company that ‘Fashion is perhaps the very first expression of success of a free nation.’ This is why I desire to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited.
