It's been more than a year I entered IIM Rohtak, and it has given me some unforgettable experiences and memories. I still remember my preparation days quite clearly. I used to read almost every article published on InsideIIM, trying to soak in any information I could, be it about a regular day in the life of a b-schooler or life tips from an MBA graduate. Well, I have come a far way and here I am, writing my own article to be published on the very same platform that told me so much the various aspects of life in a b-school.
Reading so many articles and also having heard about it a lot, I have always been attracted by the Aditya Birla group and it has been one of my dream companies. Brands like Pantaloons, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Forever 21, Peter England are a few which we all have heard about, and many of their products are in a way woven in our daily lives. I have read the various stories by students who interned at Aditya Birla Group and I always wanted to be the one who gets to have the same experience. The work culture, getting to interact and work under the top management leaders of the company is not something you get to do everywhere. Well even my favourite character from F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Rachel worked with Ralph Lauren, which is now a part of the Aditya Birla Group!
The first year at IIM Rohtak was full of ups and downs and it took time to get used to the pace of things here. Things don't always happen as we want them to, and we need to embrace the newness and change of the situation. This was one of the first and most important lessons I learnt at IIM Rohtak. Similarly, for my summer internship, I did not get an opportunity to work with the company that I had wanted so badly - Aditya Birla Group. I was really disappointed with myself and was finding it difficult to give my full efforts for other interview processes. It took time, but I slowly realized that sometimes you need to change the dream you had for yourself. Not getting the dream company you wanted, does not mean that you now give up and stop preparing for any of the other companies. Eventually, I did get a chance to work with a different firm, which was associated with Zee Entertainment, and it proved to be a great learning experience. I realized that you always get to learn something out of everything you do. My internship taught me many things and gave me hands-on experience in handling sales and achieving sales targets.
Changing your dream does not mean that you won't give it a try if you get a second chance, and I am not the one to give up so easily. As we gear up for the final placements which are a little more than a month away, I am again going to try my level best to get into Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited; and hopefully, the next article you read by me will be about the experience I am having as a management trainee at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited.
