Women in India are perceived in a particular way. They are either traditional or modern. Especially when it comes to their fashion. There are huge stores that sell a vast variety of clothes for women for all occasions. Right from bright sarees to gorgeous chudidhars to funky modern clothes. Having wearing the said set of clothes all my life, I was perfectly satisfied.I graduated as a Computer Engineer and got placed in my dream company. It was only after this that I realised something shocking. Right before I had to start working, I started my shopping spree for work clothes only to realise that in city like Chennai, in a crowded shopping mall with so many brands offering formal clothes for men, there weren’t much options for me at all. Having desperately looking for stores that actually had a good enough collection of formal clothes for women that were not ridiculously overpriced, I found Allen Solly. And I have not looked elsewhere ever since. This made me realise that despite the huge amount of working women in India there is a disparity between them and the Brands that actually want to dress them. Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, a division of Aditya Birla Fashion and Lifestyle under which Allen Solly functions, has been doing a great job in dressing India’s working women with premier and high end style and helped me in my path of achieving my dreams, elegantly dressed.
Biggest Challenge in life I over came.
Having brought up in a middle class family, I knew the importance of education growing up. I had always been interested in medicine and dreamed of becoming a doctor. Having worked most of my life to achieve that dream, I was heartbroken when I couldn’t score enough to become a doctor. Having the support of my family, I took up Engineering. Having to lose out on one’s lifelong dream and to settle down for something else is the most difficult thing an 18 year old can do. But it thought me the most important lesson in life that things will never go according to plan and we have to make the best of what we’re dealt with and maybe that’s what’s right is for us. Coming from the Biology background, keeping up with Computer Science was one of the most challenging things I had done until then. Nevertheless, I kept at it and worked as hard as I could, getting help from as many people and sources. I participated in various coding competitions and paper presentations. This phase of life thought me that no matter what the problem be, if one approaches it with humility, dedication and perseveres towards it despite any number of failures, life would be generous. Zoho Corporation, a dream company for software developers was the first company to come for placement in my college. After 5 rounds of aptitude, coding and interviews, I was among the 4 that were placed in my department.
