One of India's largest conglomerates Aditya Birla Group and the company also is one of the most international of the country's major corporations. It operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. It acts as a holding company for more than 72 manufacturing and services subsidiaries throughout India, and in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, China, Egypt, and Canada. Major subsidiaries include Grasim, the world's leading producer of viscose staple fiber, and a manufacturer of rayon grade pulp, cement, sponge iron, textiles, and chemical. It is big in my life because it is India's largest cement company and India's second largest producer of viscose filament yarn. Apart from viscose staple fibre, the group also owns
acrylic fibre business in Thailand, businesses and spinning mills in India and South East Asia. The group has pulp and plantation interests in Canada and Laos. It also owns the Domsjö factory in Sweden which exports viscose today. The Swedish government is hoping to negotiate further investments in Sweden, in particular in the hyper-modern future biorefinery in the city of
Örnsköldsvik. Its two companies Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd and
Grasim Bhiwani Textiles Ltd which is a subsidiary of
Grasim Industries are in textile business. Grasim Industries was recently placed 154th in a list of the world’s best regarded firms compiled by Forbes.
I would like to share some experiences through my personal life. In my last job, we were all set to begin a project when everything that could go wrong, did. While some team members panicked and suggested a delay was inevitable, I suggested we all collect ourselves and lay out alternatives for each challenge. We spent the morning taking action on alternatives and were able to start on schedule. It turned into a very successful project. Another example I would like to give was when I was studying in my university once when I was completing my first assignment for internals, something happened to my laptop. It broke down the night before and I lost my whole assignment the day before I had to hand it in. I tried to download software to find where it had disappeared to but to no avail. Rather than offer up excuses, I stayed up throughout the night and re-wrote the entire assignment on a friend's laptop. It was challenging but I was so relieved that I managed to finish within the deadline.
This is how I achieved my goals through finding a solution or alternative for the challenges that came on my way and I was always focused and successful in achieving my goals.
