Aditya Birla group is one of the largest Indian conglomerates. The non-negotiable values are the driving factors of the Aditya Birla Group. It has been making rapid strides in various sectors like banking, mining, financial services, textiles, fashion, cement, telecom and many more. With such a diverse range of companies, Aditya Birla Group touches the lives of millions of people globally with its products and services. And I happen to be one of them. I am a resident of Odisha. Recently our state bore the brunt of the Cyclone Fani. The devastation it caused left the state in shambles. There was a dearth of water, no electricity and the worst of all was that there was no network coverage because most of the mobile towers were severely damaged. My mother and I were unable to contact our family members. Due to the power outages that followed, most of the ATMs were non-functional and there was a cash crunch. Since there was no network coverage, we could not use online payments to buy essential items. Arranging for backup generators was a herculean task without our phones. We were disconnected from others and were unaware of the news about various relief work taking place in the city. India’s no 1 carrier Vodafone Idea was able to revive over 1500 sites in cyclone-hit Odisha, becoming the first operator to restore services in key locations. Vodafone Idea Limited is an Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group partnership. During that time, telecom companies allowed the inter-operability of mobile networks by other operators for the convenience of the residents. In my area of residence, the Vodafone-Idea were the only mobile networks which were restored the fastest and were up and running. This enabled the people to finally contact their near and dear ones during the calamity. So, for my family and all the people of my colony, Vodafone-Idea was a lifesaver.
One of the biggest challenges that I faced was during my graduation days. Due to unavoidable circumstances, I was unable to take the tests of 1
st year. Since I am from a science background, I had a lot of practical exams too. I had to complete 4 semesters in the 2
nd year. It was a very arduous task because our curriculum was very rigorous and vast. The exams of two semesters took place simultaneously giving me very little time to prepare. Due to such stress, I started to second-guess my decisions. But eventually, I held my nerve together and went on. During this period, I learned the value of time management. I had to pull a lot of all-nighters to cope up. I used to constantly interact with my teachers to clear all my doubts and they used to advise me on how to deal with such a vast syllabus. Since time was scarce, I had to work smart so that I could retain more information and learning in a short time. After putting in a lot of effort and dedication, I was able to successfully complete all 4 semesters. These challenges changed my outlook. It made me a lot more confident and habituated to stressful conditions. This helped me a lot when I was preparing for my MBA exams. I had to juggle my academics and MBA preparation. After that phase, the interview rounds started. It was a very hectic time for me because the interviews were in different cities. I had to complete my project during that period too. When I look back after having gone through all these struggles, I have a feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment because I have achieved what I initially set out to achieve.
