Part-A
“Failure is not fatal, failure is inevitable. If you don’t fail, it perhaps means you aren’t taking enough risks” – Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla
Lines like these always inspired generations of future leaders to do their task constantly without thinking of any challenge as a hurdle, but, see that as an opportunity to grow. Their
mission possible strategy of pre-eminent leaders made each challenge achievable.
With a continued legacy of 168 years, the Aditya Birla group has been simplifying our lives in one or another way. It has become the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate.
Grasim was incorporated and is now the largest exporter of Viscose Rayon Fiber in the country.
The impact of Aditya Birla in my life started from childhood: from preserving the essence of mom’s delicious food in
Hindalco’s Freshwrapp which still gives me nostalgia to a reliable connection like Idea which helped in maintaining the eternal bond with parents and friends. Spotting
Ultratech’s sacks near construction sites and of course the premium clothing and fabrics which charge me with confidence to stand in society. It covers almost all the necessities and touched every phase of my life without even my knowledge.
I clearly remember the time of my sister’s marriage where the apparel from
Van Heusen,
Allen Solly, and
Peter England were clear choices for me and my family due to their elite quality and distinguished collection. And the
Pantaloons stores which saved hours for multipurpose shopping.
So, Aditya Birla Group’s vision “To be a premium global conglomerate with a clear focus on each of the businesses” is justifiable with its product range and the trust (which is the base of every business) can be easily seen among customers, shareholders, employees, and society at large.
Part-B
Every individual’s life is balanced in some proportion of ups and downs. The thing we need to learn is to cope up with the difficulties and learn lessons from that, so that, we never get imbalanced by a similar hurdle in the future.
Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. One of the major challenges that I faced was deciding the branch in which I want to pursue engineering because it’s the first step towards my career. And I need to decide with the utmost care. Belonging to the family of engineers, my parents emphasize to take a core branch. But, I was inclined towards computer science. I put my thought of taking computer science in front of my parents, but my views were not entertained and I finally ended up with civil. My ambitions of taking computer science were clear in my mind, so, I inquired about changing branches in the second year. But, I got to know that it’s too difficult to change the branch in the second year especially computer-related fields because the merit list was dependent on the CGPA in the first year and there were too many aspirants in the queue to take computers.
So, I constantly prepared from the very first day of engineering. My ambition of changing my branch drove me and encouraged me to work even harder. Finally, my name was there in the merit list and I was able to conciliate my parents about changing my branch and I finally entered in IT field.
Changing the branch was not sufficient enough. I was fearful of not getting placed because I was the first to take this field. So, I worked hard and was successful in bagging a job in a reputable firm and started working in the field of enterprise resource planning. And from there a spark of business management generated inside me which further opens the door of pursuing an MBA from a premier B – school and I finally got admission in one. In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.
