Influence of Aditya Birla Group in my Life
It is a pretty good question as to why I think ABG is important in my life. The question unravels many facts about the third largest multinational conglomerate of our country. From having a presence in our basic needs to enriching our life with luxurious apparels, ABG has been omnipresent in all our lives. Nobody can believe that a simple but ambitious cotton trader, Seth Shiv Narayan Birla, had laid the foundation of this mighty conglomerate way back in 1857 in a palace in Rajasthan. Since then, the group has lived to its reputation of making things that in turn make India proud.
Nowadays mobile phone is a necessity and whoever needs a telecom operator for mobile services, the first thing that comes to the mind is the largest telecom company of Vodafone-Idea by Aditya Birla Group. It has largest base of subscribers and revenue in India. Even I was interested in marketing thanks to the level of brand promotion ABG did for Idea that was a rage among Indians with the tagline of ‘What an idea Sirji’. Then comes the segment that is associated with provision of shelter to all of us – cement. Again, the company Ultra-tech Cement of ABG is the largest cement company of India.
It is so important in my life that even my favourite apparel brands including Van Heusen, Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Ralph Lauren are all products of this large group. Pantaloons and Abof are also products of ABG that have influenced our lives in all the positive ways.
Since childhood I had known of that one cement brand which was used in almost every house in my locality including ours. It's Ultratech Cement. I bear witness to the fact as to how much satisfaction Ultratech cement has given to its customers. Pantaloons was my favorite choice for clothes and accessories back then and it is my favourite now too. I have been a passionate customer of brands like Allen Solly and Ralph Lauren for the kind and quality of products these produce. Also what can be more than the fact that I have lived through the evolution of Idea network as a beginner to the market leader as its loyal customer. All these things just prove that ABG has been my favourite choice since childhood.
What is the proudest moment for all of us is that this esteemed group has not only triumphed Indian market but is a top world player too. Having its presence in 6 continents, it has its business running in almost 35 countries around the world. It is the world’s largest manufacturer of Carbon Black. It has 12000+ employees in North America alone which is double the amount that Johnson & Johnson has in India. It has a massive 120000+ employees all around the world.
This success story of India’s one of the oldest and largest companies is a testimony to the fact that it has acquired the love and trust of people all over the world. It is a matter of pride to be a part of such a gigantic group.

I have seen many successes and failures in my life so far but what has kept me going is my confidence and perseverance to get the best out of myself. I have been very much serious about my studies and career. When I was young, I never liked failing. I always tried to win any competition I was involved with, be it studies or debates or even friendly fights. I continued becoming topper in my class and the habit of succeeding became a normal thing for me. But as we say God has his own way of restructuring a person in the best possible way. I had always thought of becoming a doctor. After 12
th, I dropped two years of my life to prepare for medicine. I worked very hard but could not cross the line. For a person like me, this failure came at a time when my future life was completely hovering around medicine. I had never thought anything beyond that. Nevertheless, it reinvented a new version of myself. I was shattered, broke and clueless but never lost my self-confidence. Then I realized that having parallel interest in business world and financial affairs of the country may be an indication to me about the right direction of my life. Then I opted for Bachelor’s in Commerce and prepared for MBA. After 3 years, here I am at XIMB enjoying my life and studies to the fullest. So what I learnt from my failure is that sometimes you may have certain plans in your mind but God always executes the plan that is better for you. And also the biggest weapons you can have are self-belief and confidence. With these, you can surely conquer the world!
