Life is all about challenges. We can’t expect life to be smooth forever. A person is described and best judged by the way he or she faces the challenges thrown to him by life. Challenges should be self relishing or self learning. One such big challenge I faced was CAT 2017. I have appeared for CAT thrice, 2015, 2017 and 2018. I feel proud of myself for achieving 95+ percentile in each of my three attempts. My scores for the respective years have been 96.6, 95.6 and 98.6. Despite being my lowest score among all my attempts, CAT 2017 was the most difficult challenge I experienced owing to the circumstances. My first attempt in CAT was mainly down to experiencing the exam pattern. Being from a civil engineering background, where most people opt for GATE, I decided to go for CAT mainly due to my strong aptitude and logical reasoning understanding. I was so underprepared that I didn’t know the difference between percentile and percentage until the result day. I was astonished with my score and after a lengthy research, decided to join the job offer I had in hand from TCS. I decided to give another attempt after a two year experience as being a GEM candidate, most of the factors were stacked against me. However, I then faced an extremely difficult moment in my personal life that shook my confidence massively. I didn’t even bother to fill the form next year. After joining TCS, I got allotted in a database migration project with a very tight schedule. I had to work for more than 12 hours too on some days. Owing to the difficulties in my personal life, I started to doubt in myself and if the first score was a fluke. I felt the need to evaluate myself. So I decided to sit for CAT in 2017 and that too again without any preparation. I felt this would be a fair reflection on my abilities that would give me an idea how and where I need to improve. I filled up the form. But there was an air of uncertainty owing to the project deployment being just a week earlier than the exam date. After the deployment, things got more serious as there were lots of issues being reported. I was asked to work on weekends too. I worked till 1am the night before exam. I had my exam in the morning slot from 9. I did manage to rush in the morning and report at 8.35 am. However, things took a turn for the worst when I took out my admit card. I had made a mess of the admit card as the photo I stuck on it got loose and the glue spread around damaging the scanned photo on the form. I was not allowed to enter and was given time till 8.45 to get another admit card. Being a Sunday winter morning, cyber cafes were rare. I had to cross the railway gate in front and somehow managed to get my admit card. After running for about 700 metres, I managed to reach the centre by 8.47am. The supervisor allowed me and also offered me water once I settled down. I still managed 95.6 percentile in my second attempt. My VA score went down considerably though some of it was down to VA being the first section I had to attempt after all that rush just before the exam. This score however made me pretty confident of my abilities and especially in aptitude and logical reasoning. I decided to attempt for CAT again next year and for the first time with serious efforts from my side. I worked hard the next year and especially on VA and improved my score to 98.6. I acknowledge this as one of the most difficult challenges in my life owing to the circumstances and also how it helped me to develop myself for the future.   WHY ADITYA BIRLA GROUP IS BIG IN MY LIFE? When I think about multinational conglomerates, Aditya Birla Group is one of the first names to come to my mind due to its impact globally and how it has touched millions of lives. Operating in more than thirty countries as of now, Aditya Birla Group impacts millions everyday through its wide range of brands and products. It enjoys a leadership position in various sectors like metals, cement, textiles, telecom, apparel, trading by touching every person uniquely. Personally, I have been impacted by Aditya Birla Group in my daily life too. In an increasingly digital world as ours, Aditya Birla Group helps me through data connectivity and high speed internet of Vodafone Idea Limited. It helps me to stay connected and aware of things around on a regular basis. Also, Aditya Birla Group has a strong hold on the fashion industry in my country. I have been using brands such as Van Heusen, Louis Philippe on a regular basis. Even for my business suit, I rushed to Peter England where I got a wide range of reliable products. The Aditya Birla Group is also known for its CSR initiatives in various sectors like Healthcare, Education and Infrastructure. Such initiatives along with its sustainability measures have shown how it cares to improve our society on a whole. This has also helped to enhance the value of Aditya Birla Group in the minds of the common people. This is how Aditya Birla Group has been playing a big part in my life and would continue to do so.   #VGSoM#IIT Kharagpur #ABGLPWooMe
