Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my Life?
Birla is a name synonymous with every Indian. It won't be an exaggeration to say that it's one of the few words that even a toddler learns first. From providing financial backing to the Congress during freedom struggle to being one of the largest conglomerates of India, ABG is found in every nook and corner. It touches the life of every Indian be it their homes made of UltraTech cement, the Idea cellular services in their phones to their fashion choices from more than 200 stores of pantaloons across the country. ABG has been successful in being a global force in almost every sector.
Aditya Birla Group has a special place in my heart. It was the time of summer Internship in 201 5when I was in the 3rd year of my college, I got the opportunity to be a Research Intern with Aditya Birla Chemicals, Epoxy Division, Thailand as part of an MOU between ABC and HBTU. I was among the top two performers in my batch which guaranteed me a place at Aditya Birla chemicals. I was ebullient, excited and elated. The lessons that I learned there was my first exposure to corporate life and thanks to ABG, it was gratifying. The professionalism and dynamism of the Aditya Birla family there made a lasting impact on me and helped shape my future. I pruned myself to match their vigour and here I am today in an IIM.
It is this inclusiveness and unconditional support that Aditya Birla has provided to thousands of students to nurture themselves and be what they dream of becoming. ABG stands true to its mission “To deliver superior value to our customers, shareholders, employees and society at large”. Its commitment to stand by its ideals and values has made it an impactful brand and in doing so it has not only served its customers but also the society at large.
2. How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
If there weren’t any challenges there won't be intellect. We are human only because we have the intellect to face every challenge thrown at us. Challenges are like fodder in life, the experiences nurture us and the learning that we derive propel our growth. But sometimes we lose motivation in the face of hardships and then these challenges seem like a deep well of misery. Being a plastic technologist, I aspired to be a proficient engineer and wanted to put my technical education to good use. Little did I knew that life is not always what we want it to be. I got placed in an MNC after college and when everything was going right, I was veered off my core skill and was assigned a managerial role in a different area. At first, I was confident that my knowledge would speak for itself and I would be transferred back to my domain in due time but later I realized that this wasn’t the case. I felt disappointed and was taken aback. But after some regretful days, peer interaction and some soul searching, I realized that I lacked the adaptability to work in an area which wasn’t my strength. I never wanted to face the challenges that an unknown territory might pose to me. Though it took me a while to come to terms with the situation it did change me to a huge extent. Not only did I stop complaining, but I also began to strive for excellence in my job. It was this experience at the beginning of my career that inspired me to pursue an MBA. This challenge not only whetted my mettle but also grew confidence in me that I can overcome any obstacle.
Now when I look back at it, I am glad that it happened exactly the way it should have. If not, I would have never aimed high, I would have never developed the adaptability to face any adverse condition. All this has only strengthened my belief in hard work. It has made me hopeful, positive and widened my outlook towards life. I have also learnt that success certainly comes if you do your duty with passion and if you believe that what you are doing is right.
