ABG Aditya Birla Group, the Indian multinational conglomerate viscose staple fibre, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbonblack, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services.
For me, since my schooling fashion brands such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England and People have had premium recognition because of the fitting and the quality it brings along. I have always seen my father in Louis Philippe T-Shirts and Shirts and I still remember the first time I went to Pantaloons with my mother and she brought me a pair of T-Shirts which I was so excited to have. The saga continued when my brother took me to Allen Solly on my birthday and he gifted me a T-shirt and told me “Its quality”. Since then I have been using Allen Solly T-shirts. Soon I stepped into my graduation and it was time to start presenting myself in more formal attires in occasions and there’s no doubt on the brand I chose, yes it was Allen Solly and Van Huesen. I still remember my dad saying me ‘You look like a man now’ and there’s no turning back on the clothing for formal occasions now whether be the interviews for a B-School or the classes at MDI, Gurgaon now.
Coming to the construction of our new house in the year 2013-14, I remember asking my dad why UltraTech? He replied ‘Jo acha hai wahi lagayenge’ and thus the image that was created through this. I started to invest some part of my savings in mutual funds and the mutual fund my mutual fund agent recommended me was Aditya Birla Sun Life Pure Value Fund.
My whole life can be completely knitted around the memories that Aditya Birla Group has gifted me with. ABG has made me feel happy, overwhelmed, and confident at different stages of my life and has an invaluable position in my life. Its contribution in my life is unparalleled and it is so prominent that no words can justify the part it plays in my life.
How have you made an impact?
The sweet part of challenges is that it makes you stronger. In every challenge lies a hidden way out through hard work and dedication. My journey of overcoming my challenges involves the same. Having been a shy and a below average student at school I was always behind my peers be it academics, communication, interaction or extra-curricular. The scene although changed for me when a leadership role of class vice monitor came on my way. I started to interact with all the students in my batch and other batches and I realised what I was missing till now. I started to rediscover myself and in the process improved my grades as well. From a below average student to 94.4% in ICSE, rank holder in class 11 to 95.75% in ISC everything changed for me. My hard work was recognised initially at school as I went on to become the School Prefect and then received the “National Best Student Award by the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India (CBCI), Delhi”.
However having started a new journey moving from Siliguri to Kolkata for my graduation I had the challenge to decide on a career for myself. Everybody around me in college was pursuing CA in my batch and I did not intend to pursue that. I received remarks such as ‘CA nahi kar raha toh kya fayda B.Com ka’ but that did not stop me from going forward. I started to work as an intern to improve the quality of education for the poor with the CBCI, New Delhi. I have always done what I wanted to do. Joining my family business was one of them. Although I did not have a big name on my profile but it did bring me a lot of experience about the trading and the hedging market.
There were times when I felt like giving up since the pressure building up from everyone around was humongous. But hard times are when you get tested and emerge victorious. Today I’m here at MDI, Gurgaon living my life as I wanted it to be despite of different challenges and obstacles that came my way.
