Be it any case discussion, it’s very important that you follow a logical structure. Sometimes, it may happen that the GD is not going as per the structure you intended, and that’s when its your responsibility to bring the group back on track.
Number one, understand the problem statement of the case. It’s only when you know you have your problem statement defined, you’d be able to take the group on a logical path.
Then try to understand how the problem has been approached, in the given case.
Number two, pen down the possible courses of action to solve the given problem.
Number three, evaluate the feasibility of each of these courses. Make a cost- benefit analysis if needed.
Number four, See what are the changes you’d need to make to the existing business to implement the new course.
Number five, Provide recommendations and substantiate it with good supporting data.

What kind of CD topics do they give?
Is it current affairs or HR related situations or some other decision taking situations??

It depends, it could be any of the three. Since its a case discussion you’d be having some of the data that would be on the sheet given to you. Decision taking situation is common in CDs, however its not mandatory to have it. There could be current affairs related CD, Decision making, HR related, there could also be CDs where your analytical and interpretation skills, along with guesstimates might come handy.
