For any sport to crave a unusual mark requires
*History,*Legends,*Fans,*tournaments
As far as European football is concerned which was born in the late 18th century created a unforgettable and exciting history unlike any of indian sport which started in late 19th century
Legends and fans of any game are complementing each other…it’s only the legends and also history to some kind developing fans and making it popular
Pele, maradona, Johann cruyff, ronaldinho, zindane and henry produced a masterpiece technique to play the game which dragged everyone attention and now Messi and Ronaldo are new sensation, comparing same to indian sport although dhyan Chand mesmerized everyone by his unmatched skills but this was too early for everyone to felicitate his talent and take this game forward and obviously lack of resources and improper supervision nipped in bud the future of indian hockey, then came Sachin Tendulkar who is termed as GOD OF CRICKET very well grabbed everyone hearts but sadly this game is mostly restricted over asian subcontinent only.
UCL FIFA world cup are most awaited tournaments in for any fan but tournaments in India are like newly born babies such as IPL,ISL,and hockey league..recently started and are yet to be established.
Most driving factor that undermine indian sport is corruption (CSK,RR) also scams related to Common wealth games, utilization of resources, lack of supervision and absence of discipline which will definitely stop any one to refrain himself to start a career in sport, thereby destroying the Indian sport hence paying

attention to European football

The best way to be recognised in the international sports arena is to perform in highest level in Olympic sports or commonwealth sports. But as these events occur periodically its impossible for sports fan to be excited and discuss about it when this is not going on. Football is the most followed sports in the world and FIFA WC is the biggest sports event and UCL is the biggest sports event every year and as well some serious competitive leagues like PL serieA  Bundesliga. So its not obvious for sports fan to be indulged in the European football because it has best broadcast for viewers in INDIA regardless of its late kickoffs. In INDIA cricket is the biggest sport and its not going to change in near future due to its loyal fans.Considering the other sports badminton has the biggest growth in recent years but in Hockey we are not able to take the next step to become the best . So to say that European football is undermining Indian sports is wrong , There is little change in growth of sports from when we had little access to European sports . The best way to improve this situation is to give equal opportunity , resources , recognition to every sports , considering their international acceptance. Which we can observe from europe that they are equally good at various sports. That model can help India to build a legacy in sports. But the bug of cricket that is festered so much that we normally ignore other soprts. BTW Cricket is gradually reducing its international status and other sports like football , hockey , badminton , tennis has far brighter future in international stage. So its wrong to blame European football’s influence, rather we don’t have any longterm plan for growth of other more promising sports.
