Join Trichy this year if your academic record is mediocre (i.e. below 85 in 10th and 12th and below 80 in UG) or work ex is over >=3 years. Otherwise, aim for 99.5+ and ABCL.

New IIMs are, well, new! It takes time for a good Business School to build its brand, have good faculty, develop grooming programs and get good companies to achieve 100% placement with good package. So for the new IIMs to become strong brands will take some time for sure.
So I would suggest any of the following:
a. Wait for one more year, but don't put it as a gap on CV, find a job and then prepare: however, CAT is very unpredictable. So there is no guarantee whether you can score the magic percentile next year. I know many aspirants who wasted 3 years and finally took admission in a mediocre college. You should definitely not do that.
b. You may look at other good private Business schools. between SPJ/NITIE and new IIMs, there are still some other good Business Schools. you may try there and see if there are still seats available. For example, Woxsen School of Business Hyderabad is a good option. With your profile you'll get a good scholarship there. They have good faculty (Ex-IIM ABC), good exposure to corporates, grooming programs, 100% placement with average package around INR 8LPA and highest package going to INR 22+LPA. So think and decide. Otherwise, you already have a few options.
