For any B-School, diversity in the classrooms is an asset as students from different backgrounds think in different ways. The classroom experience is enhanced as students come up with a wide variety of solutions that students of a single culture would never have considered. In the era of globalization, it is important for the students to understand that to be successful in the international environment, they need to be successful in the multicultural environment in their own country first.

To ensure diversity in classroom, IIM Kashipur included the diversity factor with a weight of 9 given to diversity in discipline and gender, out of the overall weightage of 60 for the admission process of PGP 2015-17 batch. 14% students are females and 10% are from non-engineering background. 17% students graduated from premier institutions like IITs, NITs and SRCC. A mix of graduate and post graduate students having versatile work experience – spread across industries like Travel, Education, Energy/Power, Financial Services, Government Services, Healthcare, Hospitality Services, Infrastructure, IT and IT Services, Management Consultancy, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Process and Retail.

Average work experience of 32 months in leading organizations like Fractal Analytics, Accenture, Bank of Baroda, Capgemini, Cognizant Technology Solutions, International Business Machines, Indian Railways, Infosys, Larsen and Turbo Ltd., MU Sigma Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd., National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd., Tata Advanced Systems, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Motors, Tata Steel Limited and Wipro. The batch also has students with international stints in countries like USA, Canada, UK, Philippines and Mexico. A mix of graduate and post graduate students having versatile work experience – spread across industries like Travel, Education, Energy/Power, Financial Services, Government Services, Healthcare, Hospitality Services, Infrastructure, IT and IT Services, Management Consultancy, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Process and Retail.

Diversity in classrooms of IIM Kashipur provides the students an environment for spirited debate and differing opinions and viewpoints that fosters innovation and creativity. It also plays an important role in helping students appreciate diversity in the corporate workplace. Diversity is not just restricted to the classrooms. Students celebrate the festivals of all the cultures which has helps them to know more about their own country.
