Part B: How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far.
“To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”- Alfred Lord Tennyson
Life is full of challenges and opportunities. One needs to be calm and composed at the time of adversities and transform challenges into opportunities.
I have always been a bright student from my childhood. For me, education was always the top priority and I thought it is for everyone too. As I grew up, I understood that even today education is a privilege to a large section of society who somehow are trapped in the vicious cycle of poverty.
In the words of Mr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” My biggest ambition in life is to eradicate illiteracy in our country. The only way to progress from a developing country to a developed country is through education.
I joined an NGO, Child Rights & You (CRY) which aims to provide basic rights to all the underprivileged children in India. There were several challenges that I had to face because of my time at the NGO. My family was reluctant, my own studies were being hampered. But for me, the smile on the faces of my NGO children was the utmost priority. To overcome the challenges, I curtailed my sleeping hours, started studying early morning so that I will have time to teach them during the evenings. In my 30-month volunteering, I learned that their challenges are much more than mine and require utmost priority. Hence, I have and will always try to work extremely hard to impart whatever little I can do for them.
