XAT Exam Pattern And Syllabus

The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) takes place annually in the early days of January. XAT consists of 5 sections split into two separate parts:
  • The first part of the paper consists of Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning, and Decision Making & Analytical Reasoning. A total of 170 minutes are allotted to solve this section.
  • The second part of the paper consists of General Knowledge and Essay Writing. A total of 40 minutes are allotted to solve this section.

Essay Writing:

The Essay Writing section requires a candidate to write a 200-word essay on a pertinent topic. Example, "Ethical Practices and Sustainability: do they co-exist?" or "Do Jingoism and Globalisation go hand-in-hand?".

 

Overall, the syllabus for XAT remains similar to other competitive MBA exams such as CAT, SNAP, IIFT and NMAT.  Ideal preparation time can be anything between 6-8 months.
