XAT Exam Pattern And Syllabus

The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) takes place annually in the early days of January. XAT 2019 consists of 2 sections:

  • Section-1
    • Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation,
    • Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning, and
    • Decision Making & Analytical Reasoning.
  • Section-2
    • General Knowledge.

Each question in section 1 carried 1 mark and had -0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. There was no negative marking in section 2. The penalty for unattempted questions doubled from last year, going to -0.10 marks from -0.05 marks.

Overall, the syllabus for XAT remains similar to other competitive MBA exams such as CATSNAPIIFT and NMAT.  Ideal preparation time can be anything between 6-8 months.
