Sleep became a luxury and exertion the norm.
“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change”, said Einstein and we followed. We survived through the acclimatization phase and came out as more efficient; reassuring Einstein of our intelligence. By the time we were inducted into the program half of the batch knew each other. This was important as from the very first day of your classes you are expected to work in groups and make “Quality submissions”. Multiple assignments and quizzes filled our time slots. The first and foremost thing I realized here is that I only have 24 hours in a day and the difference between success and failure is that one extra hour of sleep. But then the choice is (not) always yours.
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is a success.”, said Henry Ford and we followed. Business is all about people for me. The better the people, better the business. This is the spirit that each and every student of IIM Rohtak embodies. When everything around you changes it’s the people that don’t. From the very first day, I met people who are exceptional and would stand by me in the worst of days and celebrate with me at the best. Perhaps this is what relationships are all about, sharing and growing together.
“He who has a why to live can bear almost any how”, said Nietzsche and I followed. I have had days when I felt worthless and then those when my confidence shot through the roof, I have had times when I thought of giving up and cursed myself for putting myself through all this. But then with time things seemed to fall into place. But things definitely have changed, each night the sleep feels sweeter, each morning the retrouvailles seems special and with every moment the impediments seems surmountable.
These three months brought a lot of firsts in my life, created countless memories, taught me humility and gifted me with priceless people. What it also brought is a lot of anticipation of the future, a mountain of what-ifs, a bundle of apprehension, a new set of aspirations and a revitalized confidence to conquer the challenges. “You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water”, said Rabindranath Tagore and that, we shall follow as we conquer the mountain scaling new heights.
