Session 2 was on Employee Management. The session centered on how policies around hiring, engagement, retention & attrition have become an important policy decision for companies to differentiate themselves from competitors. There were discussions on the extent of automation in HR processes, open culture in employee management and impact of continuous appraisals and feedback in day-to-day HR activities. The session saw the participation of Chief Human Resources Officer at Housing.com, Mr. Ajay Nair; Head HR- West & South at Hindustan Times, Mr. Ashutosh Tipnis; Head of Talent Acquisition at InMobi, Ms. Namita Vyas.
Session 3 was on Empowering HR for business growth. The session deliberated upon how, in the new millennium, HR is evolving as a function that could provide businesses with a strategic edge. The session focused on aligning HR strategies with business drivers, the learnings for an HR professional from a proprietorship company, the decisive role of HR in mergers & acquisitions, the contribution of HR to the bottom-line as well as top-line. The session saw the participation of the Head of HR operations at Lafarge, Mr. Ravindra Dharkar; Senior HR manager (corporate recruitment) at Asian Paints, Ms. Sebati Iyengar; Head HR at Kurlon Ltd, Ms. Shilpi Saxena.
Session 4 was on Employer Branding and the role of marketing in attracting best talents. The session deliberated upon how differentiating your organisation as a great place for work holds a consequential space for companies. The session saw the participation of the India HR head at Cypress Semiconductors, Mr. Rajesh Toranagatti; Vice President (Corporate HR) at Kotak Life Insurance, Ms. Dhanashree Kulkarni; Director at Never Grow Up, Mr. Asif Upadhye.
ILLUME’2016 had the counsel and guidance of senior faculty from IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Nagpur Co-coordinator, Professor Chetan Soman, during these sessions.
Over the period of two days, ILLUME’2016 provided a two-way learning experience for the students and the industry experts. By having top corporate leaders speaking and discussing their experiences and sharing their viewpoints on diverse topics, students were better able to understand the vast world of HR. The industry experts were delighted to interact with IIM Nagpur students and appreciated them for their efforts in putting up such a great platform that will forge a strong bond between the institute and the industry for years to come.
