Even I come into that mass whose life-style has been significantly influenced by Aditya Birla Group through its subsidiaries. I believe wearing great clothes helps significantly to raise one’s confidence. Pantaloons, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England and many more has helped to feel more superior and distinguished when I wear one of them. Since currently I am in a B-school and when I wear a Van Heusen suit, I feel more empowered and confident. Communication and staying connected with people is something we do very naturally. To facilitate the means to communicate and stay connected with the loved ones, I think ABG has got the right IDEA. Today I am well connected to my loved ones. Moreover, one of the most important things in life is to have a shelter. And Ultra-tech cement has garnered so much trust that, when my father was asked about the cement to be used while discussing the budget for our house construction, his preferable reply was Ultra-tech cement. ABG’s contribution towards society through its CSR initiatives in health care, education, sustainability etc. where it has impacted over 7.5 million people’s lives should be praised. In a nut shell, ABG adds a remarkable value to my life and it would be my privilege if I get an opportunity to work for this company.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far.
“I am not a quitter because I was born to try”
- Anushtup Biswas
Have you ever wanted to make a change in people’s lives?
Despite the majority failing to “stay on” to try again and settling for the mediocre life, there were some people who were crazy enough to try again, just to add value in other people’s lives. Be it Steve Jobs, Thomas Alva Edison, Sourav Ganguly etc. they were all crazy enough and unwilling to kneel down in front of the criticisms of those who themselves eventually settled for mediocre lives.
Failure happens in every one’s life and in fact no matter how hard you try to avoid it, if you want to do something big in life you are bound to meet them. And when that happens to someone who has genuinely tried, rather than focusing on the setback and deciding to quit one should embrace it, learn from it and look for ways to try again and do it even better. That is how the champions do it.
Here is my story, in future I think I would like to see myself amongst the persons who want to leave their foot-prints in this world. Be it anything for that matter. I feel that I too can change the lives of people. Some did it by starting a new organization and serving its customers to make their lives easy. Some showed terrific leadership skills to create history thus inspiring many to pursue the field of sports. I want to do a similar kind of contribution to the society. There are many ways to do that but I think getting into the corporate world as a human resource personnel will help me align my skills to my vision which eventually will help my organization to achieve its goals. That is why I came to Xavier School of Human Resource Management - a prestigious institution for human resource studies.
But the journey was not as rosy as it seems.
MBA, it was just a mere idea when I joined my job. Initially, I was not serious about pursuing MBA because I did not understand what MBA was all about. Only thing that I understood about MBA was that it is a course that perhaps gives you a job with handsome packages. Later, as I gradually progressed in my job, I started to deal with contractors to get the job done before the stipulated deadline with best quality of work. There I started to realize my strength of leading people to produce the best results. Since, I was involved more into the technical aspect of the job thus indirectly aiding the business, I started to feel the need to understand the business and directly contributing to it. So now I started to understand what MBA actually was. Having work experience is a great thing because it has its own perks. It certainly helps to understand what kind of person you are and how suitable will you be in the corporate world. But it also throws a challenge when you think of moving out of it. It just does not let you pursue whatever you want to. So, my goal of getting into a good B-school by preparing for MBA entrance exams along with hectic and tiresome job was a major challenge. Since I used to work in a manufacturing plant, there was a requirement of regular shutdowns for maintenance. This shutdown time formed the most crucial time of my work. The shutdown burdened me with enormous amount of load thus making it really difficult to prepare for MBA entrances exams. This year the journey to getting into B-school became next to impossible when CAT and some other coveted exams dates fell during the shutdown phase. As a result, I could not give those exams. These uncalled-for events started a phase of depression. But I knew that I had it in myself. Only thing that I could ask god was to give me an opportunity to at least go and give an MBA entrance exam. Finally, god heard me. Perhaps it was my persistence and never giving up on my dream attitude that might have convinced him/her to give me an opportunity to give an exam. And yes, rest is history, I guess. Finally, here I am at Xavier school of Human Resource Management, Bhubaneswar pursuing the goal that once seemed impossible.
No matter what happens or how impossible things seems to be, just do your part by not giving up and leave the rest to god, after all you never know what’s there in store for you!
