“...nuvvu chala chala Baaunda...”, the protagonist of the movie exclaimed.
I coughed a bit, to convey him my intentions to sleep. On the contrary, he raised the volume and asked me to join.
Then suddenly a song starts which goes like,”... Happy days, happy days...” and I get the urge to join him. To my surprise, I found my Punjabi roommate watching a Telugu movie about some college student life. The man who criticised Bollywood movies like Mr. Goswami roasted his guests, the guy who holds the records of watching all seasons of “Breaking-Bad”, thrice, was watching a Tollywood movie called “Happy days”.
That day I not only watched that entire movie with him but also saw him cry (a little bit) over his college nostalgia. And then he came up with the most dreadful thought,
“Akshay, we will never go to college again. We are now those grownups who worry about getting married and filling the EMIs for their school kids. ”
I was stunned.
Time: 10 a.m.
Venue: Auditorium, IIFT Delhi.
Situation: The head addressing the Batch, My neighbour watching that girl in the corner and me Re-living my college dream.
Well, just a couple of weeks down studying MBA in International Business at IIFT, and I already feel like there are memories that I will cherish forever!
This beautiful campus comes straight from the heaven of my dreams. A leafy place surrounded by trees, like I am about to discover another Ajanta Caves. (Trust me, I am Histrionic! #Punintended),
And yet thrilling as the battlefield of Counter-Strike! Structure of Wings of Wisdom (Wings of Dragon) took me to another universe, where I still believe that Hogwarts is summoning me.
And the greatest Nescafe outlet (Night’s Watch!), probably the only souvenir my “professional life” handed me.
At IIFT, the day is filled with corporate competitions, guest lectures, projects, assignments, quizzes, midterm exams, end-term exams; the list goes on just like the innumerable characters of Game of Thrones. Killing and yet captivating.
I think the concept of living together with a group of people who are a complete stranger to you, adapting to a new life together, sharing past experiences and making new ones is already helping me develop my personality and made me more independent and grateful of what I have.
Now I feel more confident about being out there in the world, knowing that I won’t be alone as there are so many like me. It has definitely helped me come out of my skin.
In the night I crash on my bed and dreams are still wondering for tomorrow.
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Venue: Classroom
Situation: Managerial Communication Lecture
Aroma of sand was still fresh because of last evening’s rain. The semicircular classrooms were full of people. Professor entered on time. The workshop on “Managerial Communication” started with interesting exercise. We all had to recite the poem after him.
“I am alive, alert, awake,
Joyous, and enthusiastic about life.
I fairly sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm
and spring forth with a mighty faith
to do the things that ought to be
done by me.”
The professor went on to explain the theoretical nuances involved and classroom lost the track. (Theory could be boring sometimes.)
Professor looking forward to recharging the class threw a question at our friend “John Snow” (sleeping in the 1st-row.).
Professor: Hey “John Snow”, do you know anything how are you feeling today?
John Snow: (Promptly replied) Yes professor, I know everything as “I feel alive, alert and awake!”
Needless to say, that the whole class burst into laughter.
We love to cherish this moment again and again.
Sipping my last cup of coffee, and writing this article I still wonder that I am one of those fortunate people in the world, who is Re-living his college life, and this time fully aware of its “Worth”.
I wish to make every moment memorable.
And this is my quest, to achieve my “Happy Days.”

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to join Aditya Birla Capital Limited. Because money is powerful.
As much as rustic it sounds, as much true that sentence is.
I have realized that strategic Finance is rather a discipline and art than just being a mere theoretical concept. It is not just about reading “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, but actually turning the liabilities into assets for future growth.
My first job had a session on “Finance for Non-finance” which made me see how less aware I was of the Money. It developed my interest in finance and made me realize how important it is to protect and multiply the money we earn so that we plan our lives more fruitfully.
If in your 50’s you wish to run a charity foundation and wish to get introduced as Philanthropist, you need to regularise that cash flow in your 25th. And I believe Aditya Birla Capital Limited offers me an opportunity to understand the real-time case studies and practical examples of financial concepts and apply them in critical situations.
