IIM Raipur – Stepping Out Of My Cocoon
All my life, I was in a cocoon, in a comfort zone of my own, like a frog in the well, I knew nothing about the world outside. This was because I did my entire education, school, intermediate, under graduation in one educational institution.
Now the prospect of doing an MBA was really exciting. I could have continued in the same educational institution, my zone of comfort, but, saying no to an IIM was blasphemy, so, I came to IIM Raipur
What I experienced in the classrooms at IIM Raipur really blew my mind off. It was totally an out of the world experience for me. The lectures are of one and a half hour each, which gives a lot of time for classroom interaction and student participation.
I never was really very keen in taking part in discussions in classrooms. I would just listen to all the discussions and be content, but, at IIM Raipur, you cannot escape participation. Everyone has some piece of knowledge or information to share since there is so much of academic diversity.
This was already way out of my comfort zone, but IIM Raipur decided to equip me with more skills. Personally, for me, this is the first time I am in a co-educational set up, it is a new world for me and IIM Raipur teaches me to work harmoniously with both men and women.
Also, the presentation of every faculty is great, classrooms are fun and learning happens automatically. The one and half hour passes by seamlessly in a jiffy. Also what best I like is the group formation. Almost every subject requires us to form groups to make group presentations. The groups are always filled with people from diverse backgrounds, which gives a lot of exposure to the different cultures, mindsets, thoughts.
I really look forward to enhancing my skills, gaining immense knowledge and most importantly make wonderful memories for a lifetime.
Which ABG company I would like to work for?
If I get a chance to work for Aditya Birla Group of companies, I would like to be part of the Aditya Birla Sun Life mutual fund. I am a fresher, I am not exactly familiar with nuances of work life but, as part of my Bcom course, one subject which really interested me was Investment Analysis. Also during my Bcom course, we had a session on mutual funds with someone from Sun life. He also distributed two books, one on investment quotes and another about basics of mutual funds both of them which were very interesting.
