IIM Shillong – Journey Through The Years
IIM Shillong belonging to a group of elite and premier B-schools, is fast gaining national and international acclamations. Situated amidst nature, with the unique northeastern culture that characterizes it, inspires the student community to nurture new and innovative ideas and experiment with them, a valuable addition to the pedagogy of curriculum. The next distinctive feature is the diverse and the small batch size, roughly 180 students with 40% of the female students and students with an eclectic academic background like Engineering, Commerce, Pharma, Ocean and marine engineering, Biology, Food Technology etc. The diversity in classroom adds to the peer learning experience and class interactions, besides giving students a wider perspective and the small batch size ensures that the bonding within the campus becomes strong among the students. They become a close-knit family which stands together through thick and thin.
IIM Shillong is a student driven institute that is it provides a platform to students to participate in the process of running the institute. From actively planning and organizing events of various clubs and societies in different domains of management to taking care of the college placements all is done by the students. This gives the students an opportunity to explore on their own, become active learners, achieve holistic growth and shape their future as well as that of the institute. The whole another unique aspect of IIM Shillong is the focus on sustainable development since its inception. The Institute through its foundation course and the subjects offered during the 2 year course which are based on sustainability, CSR and social responsibility aims to develop managers who in future would adopt practices which are not only economically viable but also environmentally friendly and socially responsible. The institute also hosts an international conference on sustainability- SUS CON annually.
