As I was preparing myself for sleep on the first day on campus, gearing up for the next day, I received an email for my first session in the night. My first realization of the fact that sleep in an IIM is a privilege that very few have. There is so much to learn and so much to do every single day, that you almost forget you have to sleep! The days get long and the nights get longer, only to add so much more to the learning and the experience here.
IIM Shillong, being one of the premier colleges in the North East, has always had a sense of responsibility towards the local people of Meghalaya. Being closely associated with one of the most charismatic personalities in the country, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam sir, the institute has always believed in taking forward the legacy that Kalam sir believed in. The students of IIM Shillong have been working closely with the Meghalaya Government in policy formulations. They have also taken up an initiative, Nurturing Minds, where every weekend, the students invite school children from 6 schools in and around Shillong, and use innovative methods to teach them and help them grow in all aspects. Yes, there truly is a joy to giving, and I am looking forward to experiencing this joy in the next two years of my life.
With a keen interest in the fashion and retail sector, I would love to be a part of the Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail sector, to gain experience and insights in the sales and marketing domain for the company. With such a wide variety of brands and fashion in the company, it would be an enhanced learning experience with exposure to various unique and diverse fashion brands.

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail is a sector of the Aditya Birla Group that I have always been keen on gaining knowledge about. The group has been successful in acquiring the Madhura Fashion and Lifestyle brands which include brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England. Each of these has clocked an annual turnover of about 1000 crores. They also have an exclusive partnership with brands like “Ted Baker” and “Simon Carter”. Pantaloons, which was initially launched by the Future Group, was acquired by the Aditya Birla Group. The Aditya Birla Group has also made a significant mark in the hypermarket sector through its more hypermarket stores.
