The arrangement was usual- two parties, defendant and plaintiff, all set to fight on the already provided case. Every team had their arguments ready. It was the time to use all the concepts and show all the skills that we had learned throughout the term. The case was about a patent infringement of some traditional artifact. Each party had 4 members with separate roles, like any courtroom arrangement. Dr. Kalyan himself was the judge.
The format was like- First the opening statements were given by both the parties which set the outline for what each side wanted to prove in the case. After that, the plaintiff was provided with the chance to present their case and any facts and evidence that they wanted to present. This was followed by cross questions from the defendant. Then the defendant presented their case facts and evidence. After this, the chance was provided for rebuttal which was moderated by the judge to keep the session on track. After some heated arguments for around an hour, the final judgment was given by the judge.
So, it was an unusual experience which was appreciated by the entire batch which by the way did not leave any stone unturned to be the loud audience that we see in TVs. So, yes MBA beyond finance and marketing classes!
Which ABG company do you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for Ultratech Cement. The reason is that I have always been interested in the infrastructure sector and cement industry has a great future role in the development of India. I worked for a cement company in my summer internship where part of my work involved some research on Ultratech Cement. During this research, I got to know more about this company and I really appreciate the growth strategy of the company and how it has increased its hold in Indian cement industry and most of that too in just last 5 years. So, I will be able to give my 100% working for this company.
