On IIM Trichy And Its Culture
Trichy, the educational hub of Tamil Nadu has served as the capital for many empires over the course of several centuries and now it serves as the home of many institutions among others institutes like National Institute of Technology- Trichy, St. Josephs College, Bishop Heber College, Bharathidasan Institute of Management BIM Trichy, Anna University and our very own Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli- IIM Trichy.
IIM Trichy is one of the newer IIMs to have been started, the 11th one to be precise, but has moved fast upward to be ranked the 7th best among all the IIM’s. A lot of factors have played a role in helping the institute grow so fast, but the most important among them, which is unique to IIM Trichy is the culture. The culture of an institution is bred among the people and the main reason for its robust culture is its people. These people include the faculty who come from varied parts of the world to teach at this premier institution, the staff who are a constant source for providing the enriching experience to the people and last but not the least the students of the institute who make the Indian Institute of Management what it really has become into.
It’s impossible to identify what is the most important part of this culture or how it has evolved over the years, but it can be seen that right from the earlier days of this institute when it was functioning out of the National Institute of Technology, NIT Trichy campus the strong foundation was laid for the institute.
Having a mentor like Indian Institute of Management Bangalore has helped the college a great deal in its growing rapidly to where it has become. In addition to the above points having its own permanent campus is now going to play a very important part in further scaling up this institute with the strong fundamentals that it has seen.
The culture in this way, is a critical part of the institute and is one of the few things that will remain even as the professors move away, the students grow into managers and as the buildings grow old. It is this culture that has to be preserved and renewed each year with each of the new batches that comes into this prestigious institution.
