A Letter To Every CAT Aspirant From Someone Who Knows How It Feels

Dear Dreamer,

I know you have not slept peacefully for several months. I know you wake up every night because of a bad dream. I know you have been striving hard to do all you can in these last days to make the cut. I know all you wish is that all your good deeds of past reward you in those three hours on the coming Sunday.

I will not give you any tips and tricks to crack the exam, I know you already have read more than enough of them. I won’t tell you about how to calm yourself down for the exam too, what food to eat or what timetable to follow. I am here just to tell you that the person you see in the mirror every day, has all that it takes to ace CAT. Just have faith in every ounce of hard work that you have put in, every sleepless night that you have gone through and every little thing that you have sacrificed on to achieve your dream and you will make it.

You have done all that you could, now the only thing that can stop you is you yourself. So, ignore all those low mock scores and don’t be complacent by too high ones too, at the end, everyone will have an equal chance in those three hours to make it or break it. Trust me, being on the other side I know I would have done much better if I knew CAT is not going to be the end of the world. Irrespective of whether you crack it or not you will make it to the place you have dreamt of. This will just make the path easier for some of you.

Don’t compare your life with that one colleague who left the job and made it to an IIM or that one batchmate who got his dream package at a b-school while you are still preparing. You are the writer of your own story so put all your focus to what you want to do, all your confidence in what you can achieve and CAT will be a cakewalk. If you have done your hard work and preparations well, nothing and trust me when I say this, nothing in this world can stop you. So take a deep breath and never forget that you are special.

Keep calm and go on. I am sure, I will see you on the other side. Just hold on to this smile that you have now and the faith that you have in your dreams. CAT, my friend, is the easiest thing to crack, Life is what you need to worry about.

Give your best in those three hours and leave the rest. You will be rewarded for all your effort, some today and some later. Just don’t give up on your dreams ever.

Waiting for you on the other side..

Love,

Someone who knows how you must be feeling right now.

This is so so beautifully written. Thank you so much. Was so tired of all the advice I was getting. Just needed someone who knows how it feels. Thanks a bunch!
