During my undergraduate course, there came a time when I had to battle depression. The previous semester I had fought a life-threatening medical condition called pulmonary embolism. Upon recuperating, I returned to college to appear for my exams. I scored enough to pass them all but the college administration denied me the result on the grounds of attendance shortage. I was handed 9 backlogs at once. It was a setback that had ruined my dream of getting a good job from campus. I was so disappointed knowing that all my hard work and perseverance had gone in vain. I cleared 5 of them by the time companies started visiting our campus. But with 4 backlogs still left, I was certain no company would even shortlist me for the process. However, one day a company did shortlist me for the interview process when I was least expecting it. I didn't even have a proper formal shirt for the interview that was to begin in an hour after I received the mail. A friend who had seen my name on the shortlist came running to my door with a brand new Louis Philippe shirt in his hand. He told me it was probably the only chance I’d get and I must dress my best for the occasion. It was heartwarming to see him tear open the package and give me the shirt he had bought for his first interview, whenever he got the chance. I put on the shirt and walked into the interview with full confidence. When I walked out, it felt nothing less than a miracle to have secured an internship, if not the full-time offer.
It gave me the lift I needed. I started feeling more confident about myself and started looking at the whole incident as not a defeat but an opportunity to make my success taste sweeter. After that internship, I decided to do an MBA and now am a proud student at IIFT where I am ready to script my destiny on a fresh slate.
