What Makes IIM Raipur Unique – Tadla Gayatri

May 29th of 2018 was the day I got my admission offer letter from IIM Raipur. Being a Computer Sciences student from Vellore Institute of Technology who had a job offer, this wasn’t my first choice. But due to certain personal circumstances, I was in the IIM Raipur campus on the 14th of July, 2018 with my two huge suitcases and a million apprehensions. I went straight for my registration and realized that this campus was completely student driven with the seniors actively taking part in the registration and hostel allotment process. After the room allotment, I got to see my cozy room and meet my roommate from Bhopal. Then I went around the campus which consisted of just one building with a common mess and gym. I was not surprised to see the infrastructure as I already got to know about it from my seniors.

The day after the registration process our preparatory classes had begun and I had to give an extempore in front of 100 students. As it was the first time I was speaking in front of such a huge crowd, I felt scared but my confidence grew with every word I spoke because of the encouragement was given by the faculty and the students. Then after studying subjects like Accounting and Statistics from amazing professors, all my apprehensions had died. Then it was time to build our network and our seniors left no stone unturned when it came to helping us get to know each other. The sessions they conducted helped me improve my confidence and discipline as well. And the sports facilities were adequate as well. That is when I realized that the uniqueness of IIM Raipur lies in its infrastructure. We can easily build a network with a campus which resembles a huge house with students who resemble the members of a joint family.

Which ABG company would you want to work and why?

I would like to work for Aditya Birla Retail Limited. All the things we produce can be classified into two types. First is the one which we use directly in our day to day life and forms part of the necessary cycle. The second one is the things which sophisticate our life to make us more comfortable. Comfort is not an option for everyone. The first one consists of the necessity of food, clothing, hygiene, and health is necessary for everyone right from the lower class to the upper class. So I would like to be a part of such a sector whose demand will never decrease, make my career in it and work for the necessity of the people.
