MICA is one of India's leading management institutes, and is located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Known as the 'Mecca of Marketing', MICA is counted amongst the foremost institutes for Marketing specialisations and offers the Post-graduate Diploma In Management - Communications (PGDM-C), a two-year programme for budding marketers. MICA is also one of the leading business schools in terms of gender and academic diversity. 

USP

MICA is the haven of aspiring marketers and future managers. The USP of the institute is its flagship programme - the Post Graduate Diploma In Management - Communications (PGDM-C), which has given the institute its nickname - the Mecca of Marketing. The course offers a spectrum of Marketing specialisations in the 2nd year such as Advertising & Brand Management, Digital Communication Management, Marketing Analytics, and Media and Entertainment Management. That being said, MICA is not just a Marketing institute. It is one of India's top business schools and sees top recruiters from a number of industries hiring management professionals each year.

Exams Applicable

Selection Criteria

MICA has three phases of selection:

Phase 1

A candidate will have to appear for CAT/XAT/GMAT in order to be eligible for the later stages of the selection process. 

Phase 2

Now, the candidate will have to appear for MICA’s internal test – MICAT. The MICAT exam is conducted twice, once in December and once in February.

 

MICAT consists of 3 sections –

Section A – Psychometric Test.

Section B – This section consists of 4 sub-sections

  1. a) Verbal Ability
  2. b) Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
  3. c) General Awareness
  4. d) Divergent & Convergent Thinking

Section C – Descriptive Test

After this, the candidates will be shortlisted for the Group Exercise & Personal Interview round.

The following is the shortlisting process for the GE-PI round –

  1. Those who meet the cut-offs for Section A (Psychometric Test) of MICAT will be selected.
  2. The CAT/XAT scores of the selected candidates will then be considered. Candidates who meet the minimum cut-off set by MICA will then move on to the next step of the shortlisting process.
  3. Section B performance of the selected candidates will be evaluated. Candidates will be filtered further, and will then be assessed on the basis of their performance in Section C of MICAT.
  4. Candidates who meet all the cut-offs will then be shortlisted for the GE-PI round at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai.
  5. The final composite score for the GE-PI round is calculated by considering 50% of the CAT/XAT score and 50% of the MICAT scores.

Phase 3

The shortlisted candidates appear for the GE-PI round at the aforementioned cities. The Final Merit List will be calculated with the following weights for 4 components –

  • CAT/XAT Score – 20%
  • MICAT – 30%
  • GE – 20%
  • PI – 30%

The newly launched Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program is uniquely positioned to leverage MICA’s core competence in Strategic Marketing, while also delving deeper into the fields of Digital Marketing, Design, Data, Creativity and Innovation that are essential to the success of any organization today. MICA shall provide equal focus to the new program in all ways in order to make it as successful as its predecessor PGDM-C.
