XLRI Jamshedpur

About

About

XLRI, one of the oldest B-schools in India, was founded in 1949 by a few visionary Jesuit Fathers to bring a change in the economy and society at large. The institute always strives to be a B-school with a pursuit of academic excellence, fostering the holistic growth of students. The hallmark of its identity is, not to walk on the beaten path but to strike new routes; not to benchmark but to be bench-marked, to be the first to respond to the needs of the people and the nation, with the enterprising and pioneering spirit.

Campus:

XLRI has a lush green campus in the city of Jamshedpur, with playgrounds and sports arena for cricket, football, basketball and badminton courts. The campus has two gates approaching the Marine Drive and the Circuit House Area respectively. On the opposite side of the playgrounds, stands a huge Tata auditorium with a seating capacity of 1500. Its legacy goes back to the old hostels and residents constructed years ago. The new hostels are also constructed accommodating about 400 students on the other side of campus. Also, one of the oldest infrastructures takes us to its Sir Jahangir Library and many learning centers. The campus holds all facilities including a barbershop within its premises. There are three night canteens serving till 5 am in the morning, the most favorite snack of all students being Masala Cheese puff. Since the college is situated away from the hustle-bustle of the city, it has all utilities within its premises.

Life @XLRI:

Apart from five courses, XLRI has 25 committees for extra-curricular, co-curricular, and functional activities. They are dedicated to activities like sports with dedicated coaches, drama, debate, etc. One of the famous bands of India, Bodhi Tree is of XLRI that frequently holds jamming sessions for students to hang out together. Also, on Sundays, CSR activities are taken up by certain responsible clubs.

Connectivity:

The Jamshedpur Railway Station, known as Tatanagar is well connected with Kerala, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, and Pune. XLRI Campus is about 7 km from the Tatanagar Railway Station and can safely be reached by auto-rickshaws and taxis at any time at a reasonable charge of Rs. 120/- and Rs. 200/- respectively. The nearest airports to Jamshedpur are from Kolkata and Ranchi. The journey duration to airport from campus varies from approximately 2.5 hours to 4 hours by road/train.
