When a Pantaloons store opened up near my house, it became a regular outing spot for me and my mother. We were looking for such a store only in our proximity that had not one or two but multiple brands and the latest fashion trends to choose from. It has had a lot of firsts for me. My first party dress that I bought in school was from Pantaloons. My first shirt that I bought for the first viva I had in college was from Allen Solly. Wearing that shirt made me feel like a grown up that day. I was able to snag a few compliments too that day. I loved telling my friends that I had bought this shirt from Allen Solly when they wanted similar ones too.
I am sure there are countless such instances in all our lives for which we ought to be thankful to the Aditya Birla Group.
Part B: How have I overcome challenges to achieve my ambition in life so far
Since I was a kid, I have always been determinant in life. I have made my own decisions, made mistakes but learnt from them at the same time. When I decided to take up MBA, it was fraught with a lot of “Why? How? What about your four years of engineering?” It took a great deal of conviction for me also to stick to this decision when the people you think of the most, who have influenced most of your life, doubt you when they’re supposed to support you.
Diseases in my life have had the worst timing. Whenever there is an exam around the corner, viruses and bacteria make their way to wish me luck. The first was in my 12th grade just a month before my board exams, I got chickenpox. For a week I couldn’t focus on anything but itching myself. Then came dengue, which did not go away easily. I was doing nothing but lying in bed due to fatigue when I should have been studying for my NMAT exam. The day of the NMAT exam was the first day that I had stepped out of the house since contracting the disease. My parents got my blood tests done almost twice a day to make sure I was well enough to be able to attend that exam. They were even more worried of me further catching an infection from being out in the open, especially when I had college practical exams in a few days. This got to me also and more than recollecting math formulas I was praying to God for none of my parents’ worries to come true. Even though I didn’t score so well in that attempt of NMAT, I worked hard and was able to clear the cut-off in the next attempt.
