Pantaloons and Freshwrapp have been the two significant points of contact between Aditya Birla Group and my life. The latter did its part in keeping the food warm till recess for children in countless families in India, including mine. A significant portion of my life has revolved around pantaloons, right from the kid's section to the men's wear, a good account of which could be given by the Pantaloon salesmen at Kolkata. The telecom presence of the conglomerate that needs no introduction also had an important role to play in my life. There have been very few moments in my life where my mobile handset and SIM Card had failed to connect to the Vodafone network. I could always rely on Vodafone to allow me to communicate with my family from the remotest of places.
All in all, it would not be an exaggeration to say that Aditya Birla Group’s products and brands have transcended the limits of being a necessity and now have become a habit. It has been #BIGINMYLIFE.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far
In life, challenges and achievements go hand in hand. Without one, the other would not hold as much value in our lives as it should. I have faced a lot of challenges in my life, and each time, I have faced it head on and fought it hard to overcome it. In my 10th standard, I had to change my school when there were only a few months left until the Board Examinations. I had to adapt myself to the new environment, make new friends, get to know the faculties and seniors, make myself familiar with the extra 12kms of traveling (steamer and train) and also manage my studies and tuitions. When I faced this challenge head-on, I understood that only hard-work is not going to get me through this. I had to improvise whenever I got the chance and had to be smart in some situations to get the job done. For example, there were many incidences when I had tuitions in the evening, so I had to finish off the homework on my way back from school, i.e., on the train.
I faced a similar sort of situation when I appeared for the 12th standard examinations as well. In 10th standard, I had managed to score a 10 CGPA; hence, there were a lot of expectations riding on my shoulders in addition to the enormous syllabus of the 11th and 12th standard itself. In addition to all of this, I had fallen prey to a bad company, and I had started bunking school to go to watch movies. When I realized what repercussions my actions had entailed, it was too late. I disappointed my parents, my family, and myself when I barely passed the 11th standard. So, in 12th standard, I had to deal with a fear of failure and depression added to the vast syllabus, both of the Board Examinations and Joint Entrance Tests. I, too, faced this challenge head-on and made improvisations wherever possible. I started to focus in class and talked to the teachers for after school hours. It benefitted me both in terms of clearing my doubts as well as helped me avoid the company I had kept in 11th standard. Slowly and steadily, my academics improved, and I started to feel good about myself. I graduated 12th standard with 90.60%.
All in all, these challenges that I had faced early in my life, taught me a lot of life lessons and made me a better, stronger, and smarter person today. The sense of achievement gave me a push every time I fell low and motivated me to reach my goals, and here I am in one of the most prestigious B-School of the country, living my dream.
