VGSoM wraps up first phase of final placements for batch of 2014-16 within one week
Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM), IIT Kharagpur has fortified its position as one of the pre-eminent business schools of the country by successfully completing the first phase of the final placement drive within a week for the MBA class of 2016.
The first phase of placements has seen a record 103 offers made for a batch of 102 students, with 15 students bagging pre-placement offers and interviews through their summer internships. The highest compensation (CTC) offered so far stands at 20.47 LPA. With 70% of the students already securing a package (CTC) of above 11 LPA, the placement process will enter into its second phase in January with more companies and dream offers lined up for the students.
A fact that makes these salary figures look even more incredible is that the MBA class of 2016 has twice the number of students than the previous batch of 2015.
“Last year we had taken 20 days to achieve this feat. This year, with a coordinated effort from the batch, we have been able to do this in less than half that time”, said Prof Prabina Rajib, Chairman, Placement Committee, VGSoM while expressing her happiness over the pace of the recruitment process.
.Apart from reinforcing its relationships with past recruiters, VGSoM also managed to forge relationships with several new recruiters. Companies from multiple sectors hired candidates for a wide range of functions. As many as 32 companies from various sectors have participated so far and many more companies are expected to visit. Prominent among the companies to have participated in the process are Amazon, Tata Motors, National Instruments, Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd, Juspay, Deloitte, PWC, IBM, Titan, Virtusa, Cognizant, Wipro, ICICI bank, Axis Bank, Rolls Royce, RetailOn and Inspirage to name a few. Niche profiles were offered across domains and functions such as Senior Business Consultant, Business Development Executive, Program Manager, Manager- Sales & Marketing, Manager- Strategy & Planning, Financial Analyst, Account Manager, Purchasing Manager, Technology Consultant and Supply Chain Consultant.
