Ferdinand Alonso I got XLRI HRM call (98.88 OA, 99.25 DM,94.65 VA, 89.72 QA). I heard that the HRM school is the best in Asia. I read from previous interview experiences that the answer to why HR should be very much clear. I am interested in psychology and own a company that trains students to get software jobs. In the long term, I would like to start an institute for skill dev and do Phd too. Is this convincing?

External Linkages Yes, relevant work-ex does have weightage. Significant number of 2+ work ex guys in the present batch.

External Linkages XLRI doesn't have IM as a specialization, though we do have few electives that cover IM.

External Linkages You will have 2 processes , 1 for BM and the other for HR. They will be separate. Not 1 common process.

External Linkages Concepts like GDP, Inflation etc. which are a part of current affairs helps for both-GD and PI.
Rohan Sharma I have calls from both BM and HRM. I am from Electrical and Electronics Engineering branch and am a fresher. I am a bit stressed about what kind of academic subject based questions can be asked in the PI.
External Linkages Academics just form a part of PI, not necessarily , all panels ask academic related questions. Focus on your favourite subject. Prepare answers for your favourite subject.

External Linkages They do have a weightage: but GDPI forms the major part.

External Linkages That depends on how you justify why you want to go for MBA even after being recruited.

External Linkages No, there won't be any issues but you can be quizzed regarding this in your interview. Please be prepared for such questions.

Krishna T V I have an HRM call @ 98.10 %ile. Can you tell me what all qualities an HRM aspirant should possess? What differentiates a HRM and a BM aspirant?
External Linkages That depends on the evaluator but I would say : It all depends on how you tackle the question with your presence of mind. Be prepared with questions such as Why HRM? The GD's for HRM are usually case based. So, practice such GD's as well.

External Linkages Depends from company to company. There are HR corp , IR roles , consulting etc.
Krishna T V I was desperate for a BM call, but got an HRM call instead. I'm not really too inclined towards HR. How do I know whether I'll do able to do justice to the course and to myself if I manage to convert my HRM call? I am more inclined towards Marketing.
External Linkages We advise you to talk to current students or alumni of XLRI , who have specialised in HR. Then you can get a basic idea about the field.
Shekhar Suman Will a high percentile have a significant leverage in the final selection? I mean, I will give my 100% but anything which gives extra self-confidence and belief will obviously be a plus. My percentile is 99.88.
External Linkages Yes high percentile does have an advantage but GD/PI have a considerably high weightage. Students with 91% have also converted HRM and 94 BM. So, focus on GD/PI and people with 99.99% have also been rejected.
Shekhar Suman Can I request to schedule my interview on the same day. I work in Hyderabad, but scheduled my interview in Jamshedpur ( to check our the campus mostly! ) as I am from Bokaro. Can I have both the interviews on the same day. I mean does the admission dept. agree to these kinds of requests?

External Linkages Give priority to your work done but it all depends on your interview panel. They might ask acad questions. Prepare the basics for any favourite subject.

External Linkages It is advisable to know details of your area of interest.

External Linkages No Ravi, there won't be any preference. There have been instances where the panel remembered the candidates, so they were asked questions as to why they think they could not convert.

External Linkages The Admin office doesn't disclose the weightage . But people with low scores have also made it to XLRI.

External Linkages Just focus on GD/PI. After the call, everyone is at par.
