Are extracurricular activities of high level are a deciding factor in b school admissions or just hobbies can do the job?
Extracurricular activities and hobbies can be good discussion points in interviews and can be one of the factors that interviewers might be considering to select students. However, it is certainly not the deciding factor. Other things like CAT %, academics, work experience etc. matter a lot. Your conversion of a particular BSchool will depend a lot on your clarity of thoughts regarding questions like -
- Why MBA? Which specialisation are you interested in?
- Your strengths and weaknesses
- About Yourself
- Any Position of Responsibilities you have held
- Reason for Transition from previous life to MBA
You will be asked about your hobbies and passions. So do keep an answer ready for it because this is one area to distinguish yourself from the crowd, stand apart, and form an impression on the interviewer. I would strongly suggest you to make a document with all the answers to the above questions and keep answers at your finger tip to be more confident during interviews. It is the confidence with which you present yourself matters the most.
